In 1992 I was in bad truck wreck. Was told I need my legs cut off just below the knees so prosthetics could be put on. Hmmm. Said u put me together as best u can. God will do the rest! I'm once again in his hands. As I've always been lol. Then I got really bad. Yep staff in both legs. In bone marrow. Was told let me remove them r u will die. Said well guess I'm gonna die when it's time. Caught alot of flack from that one from my ex wife. Anyway all this time later I'm walking around. Yep not real great but I danced 1st dance with my daughter at her wedding!!!! Over 20 years later. Soooo. And Yep been challenged since 92. Guess God figured it was best for me. I've tried to help others when I can. Tell my grand kids God saved me im here for a reason I don't understand. Good luck to u encore. Your not at the end of your tape yet! Lol.

Question? I see the remington has been dubbed by western as safe with 160 grains volume of BH209. And the .45 paramount as being safe with 160 by volume. Think it's 150 for .40, 160 for .45 and 170 for .5o cal. I have a knight mountaineer. 45 cal. 1/30 twist. That I use for cast lead bullets I make. It has full asg conversion. Custom smokeless plug and sleeve. Custom remington bolt nose. I know it's not smokeless! However with the new asg ignition system could I shoot 160 grains volume BH209 it now? The reason I upgraded the ignition system was so I could shoot the 468 grain chicken bullet I make. And 450 money bullets I cast. It's a power house now. Simulate 450 marlin velocities no problem. I have a lyman 6th edition for cast smokeless loads. I can just about match any 45/70 load r more with BH209. I'm afraid of smokeless lol. I'm older and just seen to many pictures of blown up smokeless guns. People just don't realize how big lead and soft bullets really seal quickly. Cold bore and warm dirty bore shows no difference in my guns like when I try land riders. Even in my fast twist 1/18 barrels that r smokeless but put on muzzleloader. The factory ignition and 209 primers just don't get it! They explode into something that vagly resembles a primer. And full plastic jackets r a joke with heavy cast and BH209. The most I've ever used is 120 by volume of BH209 in that knight. Since that's what western said was max load for BH209. Then they said oh but if u have this u can use more. Geez. Anyway any thoughts and replies as always r appreciated. Thank u also I only shoot weighed power charges. I use .7 method. 100 by .7 method is 70 grains by weight.

Live in foot hills of Ozarks. Have seen birds treading on hens from March 16th thru as late as June 16th. And no I'm not making this up. Lol. For what it's worth, I've seen one hen make 3 nest. She nested in same place for 3 years. And I mean same spot. Within a foot. I guess whatever stole her eggs finally got her r maybe she died. Not only did she nest in same spot. One year I saw her try three times. So breeding last longer than most people beleave. I've been told I'm full of sheet. I just say I don't need to lie. My truth is interesting enough!

Well it seems I should read more carefully. Lmao! Completely ruined a custom fit asg plug. Hmmm! Should of read fine print. Caseys Birchwood case cleaner. Says 3 minutes. Dip solution. Mix according to directions. Wow! Guess what happens when u think alittle is good extra should work faster! And u put it in a sonic cleaner that really works. Looks like it boiling when I turn it on. Yep seems phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid concentrate r not friends with asg plugs. Not when ran thru a few cycles anyway. Had a plug that was so tight I couldn't use tape on it. Now I got junk. Leaks like a sieve. Even thou it's top sealing. Checked out threads in barrel with bore scope seem fine. Only shot it once thou and stopped. Thought whoa look at this module. Noticed it looked different and felt alittle easy well loose going back in gun. Made it yellow also. Very pretty I thought at first. Just kidding. It has turned yellow though. Seem some stainless turns yellow with citric acid and heat. 303 stainless I think. R its from the brass I cleaned in it first. Not sure but phosphoric acid is close to citric I think? Anyway it ate the crap out of it. The plug that is. Sure hope the Smith I used kept specs on my build. R I'll have to send barreled action back. Hopefully I won't have to. Geez I'm getting old.

After much consideration and reading all replies. It seems with my personality, lol. And the way my kids and grandkids say I don't have hobbies. I have obsessions. That I personally would be better served by Richard's reply. What he is talking about seems to be a platform that meets any requirement. And can be changed and updated to different kinds of play. Starts out as light woods gun r mountain rifle. Ends up 27 pound bench gun. When I can't walk much. Haven't read where the people winnining these bench rest shoots r using break action guns. R maybe I just haven't read where the winner used one. Since it seems we have only been talking about center fire rifles. That r being worked on to make a muzzleloader. I personally would be better off with Richard's advice. I've owned plenty of worn out break action center fires. Had enough stock problems with tc encores and hard recoiling 7mm mag. And big bore problems with other brands of single shots. Had a ruger no.1 that was a nightmare! Beautiful gun. If exspress sights and 2 inch 50 yard groups r your thing. Far charging Buffalo. I seen some that drove tacks at 100 yards. Only to have there owners removed the forearm. And reduce them to safe queens lol. Had one! Finally sent back to Ruger. Was in 270 Winchester. Strung bullets up and down 8 inches lmao. After removing forearm. They got it to shoot right at 2 inches at 100. With a note that said this was expected from this type of dangerous game rifle. 2 moa at 100 yards. Finally sold it. Guy was tickled pink. Lost of engraving and pretty colors. Note also said do not remove forearm again. Gee no kidding lol.

Wow,some more really good info. So it seems clear now. For the one r two season ahead hunter. Some one that isn't a big target shooter. The fill your tag store in safe till next year kinda thing. A break action cva is all they really need. From a smokeless point of view. No need to worry about things like. Recoil pounding 2 piece stocks lose r forearm pressure problems? Hinges pins and action locks getting slop in them. Receiver to barrel fit perfectly type things. They simply don't get used that much used to shoot very far. If you r on a tight budget u can't go wrong kinda deal.

Whats makes the cva break action such a good r better choice than say a gun of similar cost and different action design r stock. Say like one piece stock tc omega style action. R a two piece stock one? R a plunger style bolt action gun. If the price is pretty close say 50 to 100 dollars. Why is the cva break action such a good choice for the week end r 2 a year hunter? R just hunting gun in general? What makes it your choice? The Price tag? I'm thinking you mean a cva wolf. And not one of the 6 r 7 hundreds dollar cva's.

This thread is intended to help those that r new or confused when it comes to buying the right gun for the purpose they intend to use it. Action types, one r two piece stocks etc. Break action, plunger, rolling block etc. Proper stock selection for type of use etc. When a cheap r big box store gun is all u really need r should u go full custom? How use and wear will effect its accuracy etc. What can we expect for what we have to spend etc. For instance. I just sight in and hunt kinda stuff. To I shoot every week end kinda stuff. What's best for me kinda thing. What will stay very accurate for a very long time r hey I'm only using it 1 week end a year. All thoughts and advice r welcome thank u for replying

Thanks for your reply and fix idea. I see from reading u do alot with inline muzzleloader shooting. I'll keep your fix in mind. The gun isn't leaking at primer pocket yet , however last time it got where it closed like this it wasn't many firings till it did. If I'm understanding this rifles design properly. And I might not be. Lol. It seems they built it like this to help with industry standards of excexptable tolerances. And different 209 primer lengths. The receiver is cammed r rounded for lack of better way to explain it. And that let's the bolt lug on handle float a bit. Again for lack of better way to explain it. It holds no real pressure so as long as its got enough bite on it no problem. Alittle more r less closed is fine. Anyway that lobe gets wore flat. Now there is no camming action. Closing in the erea by increasing shoulders length would just give me the same problem. Maybe not though, worth a try maybe. At any rate it's not leakage that I'm trying to fix. It's module life I'm concerned with. Once that lobe is gone its just in a fixed position. No fudge room anymore. Hopefully I can get 5 r 6 firings out of a set of modules before they leak. I'll just retire it for hunting gun. Since modules r kinda pricey lol. Sure be nice to get 1200 shots out of 20 modules again. Just screening replies and fixes for now. Any thoughts r appreciated. I'm told these modules change minutely after each firing. Brass flow and just wear from being inserted and removed by bolt. The camming action of the bolt lug keeps up with this change. All I know for sure is once it closes all the way things r set. It is what it is. And it's not long till they leak. 5 reprimes on 20 modules is ok for hunting gun I suppose. I'll take one and fire and reprime till it leaks Hopefully it will take a dozen. Maybe time to retire it from target shooting. It's just hard lol. Gun shoots half in. Groups at 200 yards. Bottom line is no one at knight probably every thought there muzzleloader would get shot so much. After all there just for guys that want extended hunting seasons. Lol. Maybe get shot 200 times as it gets passed down the family. I suppose this is what happens when I buy a gun meant to be sighted in and then hunt. By 3 boxes of shells when u bought it. 20 years later still got half a box. Lmao. Never thought people would target shoot with them. I think they're catching on now though lol. Wonder what perrigrine will be like. Hopefully it has better bolt design. No more lug on bolt handle. Receiver softer than bolt lug. Bad idea. Should a made it other way around maybe? Could just replace bolt. Be fast easy fix.

I have a 2017 knight mountaineer in 45cal. 1/30 twist. It's got between 1200 and 1500 rounds thru it. It has a full custom asg ignition system in it. Plug sleeve asg Gen 1 plug. And bolt nose for asg modules. When I first got it back I noticed bolt wouldn't push down all the way like it did with red plastic jacket. Was told this was normal as the modules get shot it will slowy close down more and more over time and use. When it finally closes all the way they might need replacement. The rifle shoots great! What I've noticed though is the receiver is wearing. Where the bolt handle makes contact with receiver. I have some 22 rifles made in the early 1920's that have this problem. Messes up head space. I think this mountaineer head spaces there also. For lack of better way to explain it. Replaced modules cause they started leaking. New ones push in and bolt closed all the way down. It isn't leaking but only have one firing on them. Is this receiver wear problem common on mountaineer models? I can't help but wonder if this wear hasn't really shortened the modules life. I mean I got over 1200 shots out of first 20 modules. And now the bolt bottoms out with brand new ones. All replies r welcome. Thoughts and fixes please.

Not sure if you'd be interested in one,but lee makes custom push thru dies if u know what size u want. I've got a bunch of them. Not real expensive. Work fine for me. Can order standard smaller size if u know what u have. Then hone it to perfect slip fit. It isn't hard. I'm cheap lol. Adjustable dies r wonderful. I have alot of guns. And switch barrels. I like a die for each bore diameter. It's just cheaper for me and easier when I'm sizing. Quick change bushings make it so easy to go from barrel to barrel and different calibers fast. If I was shooting jackets would go with one of the adjustables. Can get the stuff to melt and make a casting to measure from baco. So you know exactly the bore diameter and groove depth. Cant see why adjustable wouldn't work for cast bullets. Most of us that cast don't use them because of the price. Hope I haven't confused u and good luck.

Hello, why do people tape breach plugs. Is it because they r loose fit? Tried it on one of mine was to tight. Ground it right off. After many cleanings. 4 years of them. I could put it on it now if I needed to. Suppose it's to stop leakage. See it done on bottom and type sealing plugs. Only ones I haven't seen people doing it to r the the ones with a rim at bottom of stem and seal at top. Thanks for replies. I'm new here. Posted it on Kyle's front porch at first. Maybe this is better place. Thanks for all replies I've even seen It done on very expensive custom guns. Thought sure they wouldn't leak up threads. I've shot sidelocks for 50 years. Own a bunch. Had a few pluger guns when first came out. Sold them. Bought a accura few years back. Cause it had most accurate muzzleloader barrel in world r your money back on box. R something like that. Sent it back! Gave me all my money back quickly also. Bought a mountaineer 4 year ago. Liked it. Leaked Like a strainer lol. Had custom ignition system installed in it. It's the one that couldn't use tape on. Just bought a paramount. 2021 model. This breach plug thing is kinda mind boggling lol. Sidelocks I've built was no problem install it right and it's good to go for about ever. If you take care of gun. Got a bunch of them. Not alot of inline experience though. Thanks for replies.

Hello, I'm new to inline boltguns. Only have 2. Bought first one 4 years ago. Can anyone tell me why so many people tape there plugs? See it done on all kinds guns. Break action etc. Is it because the plugs r loose fit? See it on bottom and top sealing plugs. Only plugs I've seen that it isn't done to r the ones with a rim at bottom of stem. Tried it on 1st one I bought and couldn't use it. Just wasn't enough space in threads. Ground it right off. 4 years latter I could use it though if I wanted. Thanks for replies. I've shot side locks for 50 years. Thought what the hec this looks fun too. Can't have to many kinds.
