Hello, why do people tape breach plugs. Is it because they r loose fit? Tried it on one of mine was to tight. Ground it right off. After many cleanings. 4 years of them. I could put it on it now if I needed to. Suppose it's to stop leakage. See it done on bottom and type sealing plugs. Only ones I haven't seen people doing it to r the the ones with a rim at bottom of stem and seal at top. Thanks for replies. I'm new here. Posted it on Kyle's front porch at first. Maybe this is better place. Thanks for all replies I've even seen It done on very expensive custom guns. Thought sure they wouldn't leak up threads. I've shot sidelocks for 50 years. Own a bunch. Had a few pluger guns when first came out. Sold them. Bought a accura few years back. Cause it had most accurate muzzleloader barrel in world r your money back on box. R something like that. Sent it back! Gave me all my money back quickly also. Bought a mountaineer 4 year ago. Liked it. Leaked Like a strainer lol. Had custom ignition system installed in it. It's the one that couldn't use tape on. Just bought a paramount. 2021 model. This breach plug thing is kinda mind boggling lol. Sidelocks I've built was no problem install it right and it's good to go for about ever. If you take care of gun. Got a bunch of them. Not alot of inline experience though. Thanks for replies.

Some people use Teflon tape instead of grease or never seize to keep the plugs from seizing.
