Shot this deer a few minutes later using Jeff’s gun called Cyclops checking out the first deer I shot I shot with Loud Mouth at 134 yards. Bang flop only this time I was using a lot of 7828SSC and a 353 grain Pittman HC going 3900 FPS. Now one would think that a bullet going 1,450 faster and 78 grains heavier would blow a masses basketball size hole in the deer but as you can see in the picture the hole isn’t that larger compared to the other deer I shot at the same distance. It’s all about shot placement. Was that hit with a RPG (rocket propelled Granade) or a Bakooza ? LOL !! After seeing some lung action from the little gun and what cyclops can do - Anyone with questions with blood trails, tracking, DRT or muzzy performance needs to refer to these pics! And good shot placement on your end mark - but with this performance -knicking a deer would have worked.

First deer with my newest build. Haven’t had much time or cooperative deer. In a bit of an awkward uphill, prone bind at 170ish yds, 72.5 grains IMR 4198, 303 areomax HC. I think it’s a killer on both ends. I was wondering if my nose/eye would stop bleeding 😬🤣. Never had been bit with a scope till today. My doctor friend was willing to suture it up, but I declined. In concussion protocol…not hunting tomorrow. 🤣 I was joking about concussion protocol but did have a couple of headaches this week which is kind of odd for me. Jokes abounded at work after the head/eye was black. Not everyone at work really ‘knows’ me and some were hesitant to ask. When the discussion of “well its just a muzzleloader” always turned into a nice discussion especially when we’re talking about double the muzzle energy of a 30/06, then they would say .338 Laupa and my response would be maybe a little more. These certainly are my Grandpa’s ML! Folks who are not informed don’t realize what type of shoulder (or eye) mounted cannon that we are building/shooting. I’ve pointed several to this thread and the thread regarding muzzle energy. Many are amazed and from time to time, I am as well. hanksmessageboard.freeforums.net/thread/6549/smokeless-muzzleloader-center-energy-comparisonI shot mine again on Wednesday and Thursday of this week - still sub moa and I don’t flinch. Hunted again yesterday and another 8 ptr was at 85 yds for about 30-40 minutes. I snort-wheezed it a couple times and toyed with the grunt tube. Biggest lesson learned is I didn’t shoot and ruin a good hunt 🤣! Maybe my daughter will get him in the morning. I’ll have my SML as a backup, but she’ll be using another rifle of her choice.

Shot is doe this evening in KY with Loud Mouth at 134 yards. I was using 53.5 grains of 4227 and a 275 Pittman bullet going 2450 FPS. Bang flop with no meat loss. Dang Mark, I'm a little disappointed after the guts-out shot last year. Only lungs showing? You must be going PC.

It does appear that he did blur out the face of his"victim" for the photo!! 😂🤣

I’m just wondering how short can you go and still be accurate.

I will say after the deer were skinned, the difference between the bullet weight of 78 grains and 1450 FPS faster the internal damage was a drastic difference between the two deer. It didn’t show it in the pictures.

Don't have too much more barrel length to chop off before you'll need to apply for a tax stamp 😉 unless you go the route of a pistol build.

I been waiting 11 months for two cans and I sure as heck not going to give them another $200 for nothing in return.

That’s a dandy buck! Nothing wrong with some deer management on the doe heard. Congratulations to both of you guys!
