Okay folks…..it’s that time of year again. The 2022 ‘Meat Pole’ thread was a good one so let’s do it again, shall we? For you Kentucky boys the early muzzleloader season opens today at sunrise. So, put ‘em down, take some pics and share the story here along with some info on the rifle used, load used, etc. I wish everyone SAFE success……let’s have some fun with this!👍

The boys are already “roaming” here in my part of Kentucky. I’ve seen several nice bucks at my feeder and their necks are already swelled up pretty good. Have also seen one short FIGHT at the feeder, too. They’re fixing to “get with it”. 👍

We have an early muzzle loader, doe season, in PA. Took my 40 out this week and reduced the doe population. I have a farmer friend who gets DMAP tags. We do what none of the neighbors are willing to do. Load is Varget with a 250 gr Parker MH. DRT when I do my part.

I’d shoot them everyday of the season to preserve my meat….both wild and domestic. Keeps the herds growing and farmers are much more willing to allow me access.

70 yards hard quartering away. I was using a 278 Pittman hard core bullet only pushing it @ 2450 fps. No blood trail and only went 30 yards before it fell over. Entry Exit side Lots of internal damage on the exit side. Going back using the 275 on Tuesday. I like bigger exit wounds for blood trails.

Shot a 3 point buck at first light at 10 yards. Deer ran 70 yards with massive blood trail.
