Got this one about 0615 this morning at home in VA. Not what I was hoping for in size or distance but I'll take it to start the season. This one was at 87 yards. Rem M700 Ultimate Conversion 45 SML Vortex PST Gen II 5-25x50 EBR-4 Federal 215 RL 10x 88gn Aeromax 303HC

My first deer with a smokeless muzzleloader. This rifle sure is quickly becoming my favorite. Deer were on the move here in TN this past weekend as the rut is picking up steam. The buck was quartered to me at 25 yards. He fell immediately at the shot. Bullet passed through the front shoulder and broke ribs on the opposite side, lungs were jello. Bullet did fragment due to hitting heavy bone at close range, but overall it did an excellent job. CVA Scout .45 cal 54gr 4227 Accumax 278HC @ 2575fps

😳 Buckeye’s pictures!!
I’m using 2 40s. One shooting a 228 @ an estimated 2,950 and the other a 278 @ an estimated 2,850. Previous years, I’ve used Hammers(monolithic). After looking at a # of the pictures, I’m certainly not concerned about finding a blood trail; rather, at finding pieces of my deer.

Another deer for Loud Mouth this morning. Shot her at 25 yards with a 275 Pittman going 2450 FPS. Bullet hit high shoulder on the entry and exited out the opposite side. Blood was blown 5 feet from where she stood. D.R.T. Large holes in deer means no tracking. I lost one shoulder but if the deer would have ran, it would have went straight down hill into a deep bowl that is really thick with briars.

Was that an exploding tip ? Unbelievable what these muzzys carry for energy. I know what they can do but sometimes my jaw still drops. Good Job Bill

14 years ago, 40PN/10ML2, 200SST, 2,800’/sec. 3 doe were standing together. I watched this bobcat sneak to within 4-5’ of the doe (all facing away, for minutes!). The year before, having seen a bobcat actually pounce on my doe decoy from 5-6’ away. I didn’t have a chance to shoot after it slid off the decoy as it was crashing to the ground. It was gone!! That year, 2009, I made the 103 yd shot just before it pounced. One front leg with sailing thru the sky. A 200SST launched @ 2,800’/sec is quite frangible. Still, even missing a front leg, it weighed 49#. My largest bobcat to date - at that time.

Dennis & Mark, Looks like the streak continues. LOL Keep up the good work! Sew, nice shooting! Might be a bit of a "sew" job on the bobcat hide. LOL! Nice crossbow buck! Congrats to you all for your success. I'm itching to get out and knock a few down... You all may be a bad influence. Just waiting to the 15th... If its brown it's down. Haha Gonna try to get out a day or two before I hit the road...

My smokeless saved me this year. My shoulder finally got bad enough that I gave my Mathews Switchback to the neighbor boy so I had no backup to my Mission Sub-one lite. I had a limb crack on opening day shooting at a gobbler, so I missed the entire first week of archery. With a logging operation going on at our pine farm, deer have not settled into predictable patterns again, so it was tough to get a deer within 30 yards. For the first time in quite a few years I got skunked during archery season.
Thanks to my Hankins Encore build, I took two 8-points that would have been just out of range of my smoke-pole. I also took a large doe. As many of the pictures earlier in this thread show, the combination of smokeless with the Pittman 275s reek havoc on deer. I bang-flopped the doe and neither buck ran more than 40 yards.

The deer aren't getting any bigger this week but at least the range was more appropriate . This one showed up around 0625 at 400yds. He made it about 50 yds from where he was shot. I used a ear of corn to cover up some of the carnage. Same equipment setup used in previous post.

Got this doe this morning 300xtp 2430mv at 20ft Hank's conversion blue blk scout Bombs Away ! That’s a serious hole sir. Never seen an xtp do that - but never shot one that close either. High powered rifles can’t rival this unless it’s a BMG ! Good Job !

The top red spot at the base of the neck was point of impact, the bullet hit and broke the big shoulder bone, the result is obvious. I saw a flash of red in the scope when I squeezed it off.
