After looking at your rifle and scope, I see why you stated, “only 156 yards”.
PS I am using my ultralite (6#12oz) 40 this week.

I scored this morning on a decent 10-pt! Been a while since I’ve done that on an opening morning. Load was 89.5gr Benchmark and a 300gr Pittman Accumax. Shot distance was only 156 yards. Rifle is a Remington 700 S/A with a 26” fluted 1-18 twist Brux barrel (1.25” for 5” shank), H.I.S ignition & Stocky’s EuroMatch adjustable stock (bedded) and Nightforce 15-55 Competition scope. Nice buck Congratulations

I couldn’t realistically even call that a “chip shot” for that rifle. I actually had a 6.5 Creedmoor topped w/ a Vortex Viper with me also…….just in case of an early morning shot. The crosshairs on the Nightforce 15-55 Competition are awfully thin. Luckily, I didn’t need the Creedmoor and could do it the PREFERRED SML way 😁.

Took this doe this morning using Loud Mouth. Easy 30 yard shot with a 275 Pittman with 53.5 grain of 4227 @ 2450 FPS.

This old girl decided to have a look to see what was going on with the deer I just shot. I had plenty of time to reload. Unfortunately, she showed herself for a nice board side shot. Lots of blood on the trees and on the ground. She dropped 10 feet from where I shot her. Entry hole Exit hole

Only “126” yards, 228 AM @2900-2950 . The trail where I shot him is heavily used. Didn’t want to blow entrails all over the place, so I tried to shoot right thru his spine just behind his shoulders. Hit 2-3” low, but the plan worked. Tiny entrance and exit hole, just below the spine but right through one of the tenderloins. No blood nor carnage : just an instantly dead deer. The hard core AM worked well again. And, the shot was comparatively quiet: hearing protection not needed.

Are you spinning it off or have a long funnel ? I love the idea of quiet.

Quick detach. I don’t load thru it. The suppressor, is just that. The one on my 300BO/subsonic could be truly called a silencer. Not so, with a smokeless MLer shooting 2,900 or faster. But, brings it down usable w/o hearing protection though I still wear foam earplugs.
I also have a muzzle brake attachment to replace the end-cap on the suppressor (Hybrid 46). Seems to negate any suppression. So, I’m not using it. Suppressor with end cap gets hot after 1 shot. Needs to cool, which it does quickly, after detached. With the muzzle brake it doesn’t get hot.

Alright I know ya'll are tired of me already this year but final buck for the year. Shot this 6pt around 0645 while walking a fire line around property line. He was standing in a small clearing, problem was there was a decent amount of brush between us. He was 50 yds away so I took the chance and fired. Turns out the bullet struck true and the deer made it about 30yds. I found him on the edge of the clearing some how perfeclty hit. Good way to use up last buck tag for the year and celebrate my birthday. CVA Scout Conversion 45 SML Burris Signature HD 3-15x44 Fed 215 IMR 4198 65gn Accumax 275gn w/ wool wad

buckeye68“Awesome and good shooting. We never get tired of hearing and seeing forum members deer pictures!” Absolutely, brother! On the other hand seeing the continued adverbial usage of “only” does get a bit tiresome. 😂🤣

It's difficult to write well on the phone when hunting this hard. Lol

On the other hand seeing the continued adverbial usage of “only” does get a bit tiresome. 😂🤣 Very good point. First, for those involved in deer management, harvesting does to keep the population in balance is critical. Harvesting bucks has very little impact. Second, you can't eat antlers. Third, harvesting a teenage buck is much easier than harvesting a mature doe. Fourth, harvesting even a wall-hanger buck at long range is often easier than harvesting a mature bow with a bow. Finally, I think it is important to show respect for all game we harvest. I'm also torn when it comes to posting the "carnage". On one hand, it is good that hunters understand the impact of their load on deer. Knowing the terminal effects can be important in understanding shot selection in a given situation. On the other hand, event thought is this a hunting related forum, it is open to the public. We never know what the PETA folks are doing and pointing the general public to to maker their case against hunting.

I understand where you’re coming from with the carnage pics and I’ve posted a few myself of elk. A possible exception is the many posts by hunters saying the 275 grain and less bullets are not performing well on deer. No blood trails and thick cover and not recovering an animal. I haven’t shot a deer with a muzzy in many years but the elk can’t handle the forces of the pitmans or the fury’s. Even though I know what these rounds do to large bull and cow elk -my jaw still drops when I see some of these holes in the deer. I’ve even referenced some posters to the meatpole thread just to show them what these supercharged muzzys can do. I can also say that this forum is the best by far (imo) for keeping things clean and professional - the drama is really low. The members are upstanding and set the bar when compared to other sites.
