Heck of a deer for your son! Sorry to hear about your loss. It's really special that he got to share such a great moment with you both before he passed. That's a wonderful memory that you'll carry with you for the rest of your life.

Dont know if you guys ever heard of this before but that chemical (forget its name) thats used to clean hot tubs works great for euro mounts in a big pot of water on a turkey fryer . Boils/eats the soft tissue right off and surely costs alot less than $132 propane included . Takes a little bit of time and it helps to trim off meat as best you can first . May have to do it twice but leaves a clean snow white skull . Congrats to All the successes this year !!! Ya did Good !!! Thanks for the tip, the beetle-guy near me charges $125. I've boiled skulls before and I'd be interested in trying the hot-tub cleaner you mention, does anybody know the brand-name? Thank you. Its not so much the brand name as what the product "IS" that matters ?? I just go to a store here that sells hot-tubs and buy the bottle of this cleaner . Its a powder and kinda caustic i think is the term . Kinda bites your hands if you get it on you ?? About the size of a coffee creamer ?? Pretty potent stuff . It Was about $20 last year . Figure on a coffee mug full for the pot of boiling water . I wouldnt use this process in a confined area either . Better to do it out in the yard . It stinks a bit and that steam is probably harmfull seeing it eats flesh !!! Be Carefull !!!!!!!!!

There’s a lot to this story but I want cover it all but my Dad passed away Nov 11 and 6 days before that my son and myself were hunting and he was carrying Papa’s muzzleloader which is a CVA Scout V2 and was able to harvest this buck. It breaks my heart just typing this but we were able to take the head this next day and show Papa what was killed with his gun in his stand. He was so proud of his grandson words can not explain. I’ve been wanting to post this before now but couldn’t, I can barely read the words I’m typing now from the tears in my eyes. The deer green scored 159 4/8 and my son is still grinning from ear to ear!!! With that being said life is short but eternity never ends, be ready! Wow man! amazing deer. and sorry to hear about your pops.

I'll speak with a friend who has a hot-tub, he'll probably know what chemical you are suggesting. I'll also search youtube, can learn just about anything on there. And thanks for the words of caution, sure don't want to be breathing flesh dissolving fumes!

Chad ,
Im sorry to learn of your loss . Im quite pleased though your son and his grandpa got to share in that buck . I doubt if that was coincidence ....... Jesus arrainged this on purpose id say .......pretty sweet..... This will hurt for awhile . We Eventually learn to live with it id guess youd say . Rejoice FOR him . This sounds odd maybe but its also how God tells US to deal with these things . No pain , no evil , nothing can anymore harm him . He has seen the Lord and is now with Him . Its our Ultimate Goal. Rejoice even when its hard . Thank Jesus for His care for your dad and the bountifull mercy bestowed . Thats Love . It Always wants whats Best for those we care for Above our own desires . Rejoice for dad . Jesus will take care of You too doing what the Word says .... Trust Him !!! This IS what works best brother . Rejoice !!! My heart to Yours......Sideshow
Ps.- Did we know your dad here ?? If so what was his handle/username ??

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and kind words. It’s is tough as I deal with it daily and it’s human nature to want the things we want but I keep reminding myself daily that’s he’s better off than I am. My dad wasn’t on this website nor any other website but he sure did love to hunt. Thanks Chad

Rehab gun got tried out this morning on a Tn scrub but how often do you get to kill a deer on your birthday? As you can see the 303 HC @ 2900 at 60 yards is pretty brutal

I know it’s not Sunday yet - but I’d consider it a “Holy (big hole) Day” and maybe a football (sized hole) day - both puns intended. Lol Nice buck !

Thank's guys Intended on whacking a big doe tonight but it started raining and I didn't want to mess with her in the rain so rehab got a reprieve. Saw several and had one picked out but she got a pass.
