I live here and hunt eglin airforce base.....the rut can be in wot mode at that time....Florida made smokeless legal now so I canactually use my hotrods....I built them for Alabama food plots, powerlines, because I wanted them,etc....Anyone can make it down for a campout situation on yellow river, let me know....Lets call this the Florida last chance challenge.....You can actually hunt in blackwater wmatill march....but the eglin hunt is rut rut rut on.....lot of cruising bucks......There is a bowhunt area that has been established since 1980 around duke field..monsters grow old in there.....A Michigan strain of deer was introduced down here in the 60's....We could always wet a hook....I am bummed about my season so far but ml season instantly can be a attitude adjuster.....I know that this week is a GREAT week and try not to burn out, but everywhere else knocks them down so much earlier...even 40 miles north.....
There are motels local in crestview and on 89 and 87 hw....Its essentially the last hunt of the year.....

I spent a couple weeks at Eglin and swore it would never happen again. That said, I do love hog hunting and I did see them running around out there through the palmettos. Good luck with your hunt. I do want to come down this summer and work over some pigs in FL if you have any reco's. Beats cutting the grass at the house any day.

Hog hunting on private land in Florida does not require a hunting license. Non resident hunting fees are over 150 bucks and around 50 for a 10 day hunt. myfwc.com/license/recreational/hunting/

there are different units/areas...I hunt in 23,000 acres....there are others that are bigger....Jackson north and south combined are 47,000....plenty of area and the roads are in pretty good shape....I've been doing my best to not burnout before feb. ,the weather has either been hot or rainy so I haven't hunted much....I'm going to try to go everyday of the late season....Bag limit 2 bucks a day ....

A little to late for me this year but keep us informed about the hunt for next year and I may come down and hunt with you, only 7 hours from me and that would make for a nice long weekend trip.
