great deer, when do their antler drop in FL? late march-april....I went today and didn't see a deer...They know whats up ....but they might move good tomorrow if a doe gets hot.... Most of the time the dominant buck will harem a herd of does 10 or more and just wait till they become hot I guess...My buddy Clay saw this buck or one like him running with a couple of does around noon yesterday....Well the does just happen to come by me at 4pm.....Something told me to turn around and I was able to see them running by in a palmetto and mature longleaf pine flat....He was trailing about 100yds behind them...The rest is history. He is my biggest buck I've ever killed. He is of the Coastal subspecies deer and he was an old and in his prime stud for the woods I hunt in....I missed a monster with a muzzleloader out there which was the root of all of my smokeless interest....

275be..71/h4198 fed 209a... took the shoulder and lungs on a 7pt I killed today at 90yds with "Bigmac"...RemMac with a mcmillanM40 stock...pictures to come...I found the does yesterday in a place Ive never hunted and set up close by and happened to have a hot one with a racked buck with her....A doe came downwind of me and didn't bust me,,but she got nervous...30yrds where I couldn't see a buck snorts and runs like on fire for 300 yds with a yearling doe ....I thought I was done...The older doe stayed locked up at 20 yds..... 2 minutes later the fawn comes back to momma with 7pt trailing about 30yds behind..I couldn't believe it ,but dialed in and took the shot at 90yds... he only gave me a quartering to me angle....He bolted and ran 30 and I didn't see him anymore.....It was a challenge to reload with a doe 20yds away but with the help of our airforce it was possible,lol...I climbed down and he was right where I had last seen him...The RUT is on like donkey Kong...
