There is another thread 'Which Devcon' that is a good read pertaining to scope base mounting. I bought Jeff's picatinny base and rings and mounted my scope as far rearward as possible so it would be over the mounting screws. I cut off the excess rail past the front ring and then bedded the rail to the barrel with JB Weld like hillbill and others suggested. I also used blue locktite and torqued the rail and the ring screws to 20 in/lbs. I made witness marks and have shot approximately 65 rounds through mine mostly between 60-65 grains of 4198 and nothing has moved so far.

I also use the DNZ one piece on my CVA SML (all of them actually) and so far so good. I epoxy the DNZ base to the barrel and torque the screws. I use nothing on the ring screws but they are torqued as well. Witness marked and no movement so far.

I like your cartridge holders flattopusa. Great idea! I've got two Scouts now. The black and stainless is the one I converted to SML, the camo version is still 45-70 and sighted in with Underwood Xtreme hunter 325 +P ammo and it shoots good too. Both with DNZ mounts and as you can see, they come in silver and camo as well as the standard black. I used blue locktite on the base screws but did't epoxy. Hopefully, that will be good enough? I've shortened both stocks 3/4" because I'm a small guy.

Those are nice looking rifles! I have always epoxied the bases.....removes all doubt, so to speak. I like those power adjustment knob aids...where did you pick those up. The adjustment knobs on the Leupold scopes are hard to manipulate with gloves on...I could sure use some help there.

Yes, the scope power levers work nicely and make power adjustment a breeze. I got them on Amazon. They come in different sizes. I'll attach a link for the black one but there are others also: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B35BWQD2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I purchased the DNZ mounts on Amazon as well. The flip up scope covers I have are Butler Creek Blizzard models which have clear lenses so can be used in the closed position if necessary , also purchased on Amazon. They come in different sizes but I'll attach a link to one size but using the size chart, you can search other sizes on there. www.amazon.com/dp/B000LC5TUS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
