Went out for the last time tonight to see if I could get a shot at a doe at over 400 yards. So I got two shots. One was at 402 yards and the other was at 433 yards. The one at 400 ran 20-30 yards towards a wood line but dropped dead about 50 yards short of the trees. The doe I shot at 433 yards ran 40 or so yards and stopped, we watched her stumble around for a second or two and then she made that mad dash,,,,, we it was a short mad dash of maybe another 40 yards. She never made it to the wood line either. Oneshotike went with me tonight and ran the camera, I got to do all the shooting and Lapua did the tracking for us...... Here's My best buddy up in the shooting house with me and Mike. Here's the two doe I shot.. These were some big doe. I weighed the smallest one and she was 160 on the hoof. Here's the big doe's chest cavity. I hit here a tad bit high but still got a double lung shot. Got a good hole going in and a good hole going out.... Today was my last chance to hunt this year so I figured I should go when I could.. We saw 12 deer total and two of them were small bucks.... Had a good day..

Jeff, nice shooting. Were you shooting the 275BE? I like the look of the holes in the chest cavity.

Jeff, that's some excellent shooting and quite a way to wrap up a hunting season ... Well done!
Seeing how you can't tell us about the bullets (yet) , Can you tell us about the gun you used?
Thanks,
YB

that is some good shooting, who would have ever thought you could shoot a muzzleloader at 400+ yards and make a kill.

Thanks,
YB YB. The rifle is one I built for myself several years ago. Those that's been to the shoots have seen it... It's got a Richards Microfit stock, finished in high gloss clear coat. A Remington 700 stainless steel short action, Krieger stainless barrel with a 1-20 twist and cut at 28 without a brake, a Jewell trigger set this beast off and for optics I'm running a Nightforce NSX 8-32x56. The rifle is a know killer in these here parts and she has some battle scars but she's mine and I love her....

That's flatter than a .308 Win with a 175gn bullet because I know at 400m I average 2.4 mils.
