I tested the original 275 AccuMax with my Rem 700 ML with 1:22 twist .45 McGowen barrel using 95 grains by weight of BH209.
Fed. 209a primer .060 Veggie wad Smooth sized sabotless slight knurl up MV about 2400 fps
300 yards Jugs are 13.5" long and filled with water First shot with two jugs. Jacket found on the ground around first jug and lead in the second jug. However the main portion of the lead core passed through the second jug unlike the 100 yard test where the lead core was found inside the second jug. That’s 27” of penetration and still going.
Added a third jug and tried it again. Hit a little right on the first jug but still passed through the second jug but only nicked the third jug. Again jacket found around first jug and the lead core in the second jug. I will reshoot the 300 yard test just as soon as I have time. Also hope to test a few other bullets as well.
Set up for 300 second shot.
First jug second shot at 300.
Entrance second jug.
Again jacket found around first jug and lead in the second jug.

Nice testing Scott. Do you always use BH209 or just for this gun and test?

Schuster why do you smooth form then knurling with Blackhorn? Does knurling help grab rifling with low pressures of Blackhorn? Also what kind of loading pressure?

Another good test Scott! All in all, a pretty destructive bullet! I would rather lose a little meat rather than lose the whole deer. Anchor them where they stand!

Neat test Scott! 27 plus inches at 300 for my lightest grain weight offering looks good to me. I believe the heavier grain weights will yield even better performance. Thanks to all of the testers shooting out there in the heat!!

Nice testing Scott. Do you always use BH209 or just for this gun and test? Steve I shot smokeless in this one up to now. Shoots 10/50 duplex very well too. There is a 10 day ml season that I have to shoot a black powder substitute so that's my primary reason for BH209.

Schuster why do you smooth form then knurling with Blackhorn? Does knurling help grab rifling with low pressures of Blackhorn? Also what kind of loading pressure? The bullets were sized a little to small so a slight knurl for a good fit. I would say 5-10 lbs. loading pressure.

If it's a small one then it's a pig, right?

If I have a pig break a leg or for some reason I need to put one down I'll let u know the size before I shoot it . I've got 275s 300s and 325s .Right now my pigs are about 150 . By the time the next Kentucky Challenge they will be any where from 250 to 325 . You guys let me know what size u want . Already scheduled to be dressed and quartered .

LOL, you guys are really going overboard on bullet testing. For a pig I've found a 40 grainer out of a 22LR plenty. Never had a hog or even a cow carry one off. Of course shot placement is critical.
As for what size I want, a 325# has really nice hams/loins/chops/shoulders and plenty sausage so I'll take that one!
Didn't mean to hijack the thread but I couldn't resist. 10

If it's a small one then it's a pig, right? Off topic, but I helped raise 'swine' for 10 years with my ex's father. Generally a hog that was under market size, 240lbs, was referred to a a pig. Anything not weened was a piglet. To me they were all nasty crap laden pains in the butt...... lol..... BTW: I personally helped put 'copious' amounts of wormer and growth steroids in their feed. I love me some pork tho. The only thing that's grown on me is my waist line and i'm pretty sure I'm worm free.

I grew up with swine (just for FFA show) and beef cattle (registered Angus). I was always tracking pigs were 120# or less but I'm not an expert. I just know they are fun to hunt and taste good. The biggest one I killed was with a bow about 40 minutes from Mexico. Dragging him out of the thicket he died in was a workout. He bottomed out a 300# scale and had tenderloins the size of my calves that we grilled up that night.

Wild hogs any good to eat ? Our farm holds right at 7000 pigs / hogs animals that oink ! Hate to say it but if I shot a wild hog I would probably let it lay . I live in Indiana , we don't have wild hogs, lol although I did have some get out . They got so wild I had to shoot them out of a corn field . I've heard of some guys building pens , capturing the wild pigs then feeding them for a month or so. Then butchering them .
