Wild hogs any good to eat ? Our farm holds right at 7000 pigs / hogs animals that oink ! Hate to say it but if I shot a wild hog I would probably let it lay . I live in Indiana , we don't have wild hogs, lol although I did have some get out . They got so wild I had to shoot them out of a corn field . I've heard of some guys building pens , capturing the wild pigs then feeding them for a month or so. Then butchering them . The wild hog I've had here in Arkansas has been nasty, just flat nasty. Don't know if it was the location, natural feed, the way they were prepared or all the above. And this was some pigs around the 150# range. I don't wanna even think about a boar.

All the ones ive eaten have been great. Getting them gutted and the meat cooled quickly will help a lot. All the ones ive had were shot near feeders or bait. Not sure if they ate enough to make a difference but i know some natural foods do make wild game taste "gamey". Not much is gunna make a big old boar taste good IMO especially if he still has his "jewels".
