Hey guys. Finally finished my encore rebuild. This will be a tree stand gun. Used a bergera 24 inch 45-70 barrel, Jeffs H.I.S. conversion. Leupold VX3L 4.5x14x56 30mm CDS scope. Stock is an ambidextrous thumbhole, made from a piece of walnut cut off the family farm. Did the stock and forearm myself, way too much work. It ain't perfect but it works for me.
Had a problem with the extractor being too long (the modules were slipping behind the extractor), had to grind it down. Also had misfires, the firing pin was not hitting the primers hard enough. There seems to be a big problem with some encores, especially if you use a hammer spur and have had the trigger pull lightened (I had both). Installed a Bellim 51 lbs hammer spring and that corrected the problem.
I got on paper using 55 gr. of H4198-Fed 215 and 250 gr hornady SST smooth sized. Groups averaged three to four inches. Tried different sizing but that didn't help. Next tried 275 gr. parker BE-55 gr. H4198 seems to hot. (Getting a little blow by on the back of the modules.) Backed down to 53 gr. and first three shots were .467. MV was 2306 F.P.S. average. This is where I want to be. Shot two more 3 shot groups today, not as good, but still around MOA.
Hope the pictures come out, I'm dumb as a bag of rocks when it comes to computers. Will try to post pictures of more groups later.

Nice job leftyml looks good ...... give 54 grn 4198 and a 225 ftx a try after sizing them down some ..... i think ull like the accuracy and they fly aroun 2300 and some chg depending on how tight u size them.
