Items needed. 5 gallon cast iron kettle 12 Johnsonville Italian sausages. 6 big green bell peppers. 1 or 2 red or yellow bell pepper for color. 6 big onions 4 tubs mushrooms 3 pounds spaghetti 2 sticks of butter 4 big jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce Seasoning to taste. Salt, pepper, red pepper flakes,, ect. Start by grilling the Italian sausages until they are cooked all the way through. Cook slow and completely because they are made from raw pork. When they are cooked all the way through cut them into 4 equally size pieces and set aside. While the sausages are on the grill start slicing the peppers, and onions. I like to keep my slices kinda big as they will cook down quite a bit. Now in the (5 gallon) cast iron kettle add the two sticks of butter and start sautéing the peppers, onions and mushrooms. While they are cooking up start boiling the 3 pounds of spaghetti, do only a pound or so at a time or as much as you can get in your pot and still be able to handle it when ready. By the time you get all the spaghetti cooked, the peppers, onions and mushrooms should be about done. Now you can add the spaghetti and the sausages to the mix. Pour in the four big jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce and gently stir.. Cover and let simmer for about 30 minutes. Now you are ready to enjoy. Feeds about 30 hungry men. If you want you can cut in half all the ingredients and feed 15 or so. Hope you enjoy.. Jeff.

I put on #10 in a single weekend with all the good grub at the last shoot. My wife tried to carbon copy the recipe. I decided you just can't mess it up. And the beans where awesome. I didn't find anything with a bad taste.

About half my motivation for going to one of Hank's shoots is the food. That sounds like a great recipe for spaghetti. I'm sure I could gain over 5 lbs in a weekend.

One trick to pan fry sausage, and make sure its done through is too add water to the fry pan, a little less or up to about 1/2 way up the sausage. then just let the water steam completely off. Then brown the sausage like normal. this insures the sausage is well cooked through, and still allows for browning, or recipe style/ lack of oven.. I do it often. with sausage, brats and the like.
