Elkman (Carl) sent this to me for posting.................. Hi Richard! I got a chance to shoot the X-Caliber .458 1-18 this afternoon. This stock really is hard to control. I don’t have a small enough front bag for this slim stock. This stock doesn’t have a beaver tail front end so its pretty tough to keep from sliding around but as you can see it’s a shooter! Same load as all my other barrels 73 grs of IMR 4198 and a 300gr SST with a wool wad and CCI Mag primer. Bullet sized to fit loose in this barrel it ended up being .4506 I have included some pictures of this M/L and some of the many targets from other M/L’S with Shilen barrels they all shoot better than most people can possibly hold them If you get a chance you can post these there were some people interested in how this X-Caliber would work I have used Hornady 300gr SST with great results in Shilen ,Douglas and now X-Caliber barrels. Maybe Hornady’s like button rifled barrels better than cut rifled barrels I know they will shoot just as good as the Pittman and Parker bullets. But they lack the B.C. of the Pittman and Parkers. But for $25.00 a box the Hornady bullet can’t be beat. I did get a few 300gr Pittman bullets to try and they shot really well out of my Shilen barrel. Hey Kyle that’s really a nice bullet that your selling keep up the good work! image hosting without accounthosting imagesfree screenshot softwarescreen capture windowshow to screenshot on windowsphoto sharing websitesadult photo hostinguploading pictures

Thanks for the nice comments! I make my own muzzle brakes. They work very well you don't have to remove the brake to load the gun. Just use my funnel to load the powder and push the wad and bullet down the brake and into the barrel. The funnel is long enough that it gets the bullet into the barrel about an inch for easy loading.
Richard has one of my brakes. I have tried all different styles and patterns on these M/L'S and on my long range bench rest rifles they work about the same. I don't use the open style tank brake. Our 1000 yards rules are that a muzzle brake cannot blow gas rearward no angled ports so its more of a challenge to make them work efficiently.
We shot M/L'S today and I tried some 10x with the 300gr SST it shot very good. I have a few pounds of the stuff so I need to use it up.
