Since, deer season ended, I haven't worked much with the muzzleloaders. I have been spending most of my gun time shooting/working with my 7mm08 in preparation for the 2016 mule deer season. Anyway, I decided to break it out the other day. It hasn't been shot since early January and I have never cleaned the bore. 300 yards, 3 shot group. Load is 78 gr. of H4198 and a 270 EMAX. It did shoot about 3.5" low but it was a nice group.

That's some really good shooting for first time out at 300 yards.

Bowhunter836: Mule deer in Wyoming if I draw a tag.
Thanks for the kind words about the shooting. But, I think it's more the gun than me.

Scallop, if you were aiming at the bullseye, and hit 3.5" low, ain't that pretty much what you want?

SML:
I am not sure why I am low. I have the gun zeroed at 200 yards and I was holding 2.25 MOA (I think?) for 300 yards. I was using a different lot of H4198, so I thought my velocities might be off. But, they were right about where they should be.
I checked them the next day. But, I has at my local range which only goes to 100 yards. So, I was only able to check velocity.
Maybe I made a mistake and only dialed in 1.25 MOA for 300 yards.
I will check my holds later this week.

Rambler:
The muzzleloader has a Nightforce NXS on it. I had the elevation turret adjusted for 300 yards (or so I thought).

Scallop... That is some good shooting... If you did make a 1 moa adjustment error that would explain your group being 3 inches low... But regardless the group is excellent.

That is a nice group scallop now if it will do that consistently day in and day out, then you have got one hell of a shooter. Was there much difference in the weather from the last time you shot at that distance? Cold air is more dense and can cause a lower shot. Barometric pressure can also change things as can head and tail winds. All this stuff has to be contended with when taking that ONE long range shot. But at the rate you are going, them muley's are in trouble!
