Today was my third range day dialing in the 300 accumax. Below are pics from each day. I have posted some of these already but I wanted to post them all in one thread so its easier to follow. Day one I shot 74 grains of H-4198 and got almost all horizontal variation. Day two I shot 70 grains of H-4198 and most of my variation was vertical. Today was day three and I was hoping to find a sweet spot somewhere in the middle. I tried 71 grains of H-4198 and 72grains of H-4198 71 grains H-4198, 300 accumax, .060 veggie wad, Win. Primer group measured .398" 72 grains H-4198 (hole on left was first shot on clean barrel) Thanks Kyle for providing us with another bullet that shoots great and gives me a good reason to go shooting.

It looks like 71 grains is the magic number

Good report............BTW, did you chronograph the loads? Always nice to be able to compare velocities that other get. No problems with ignition with the Winchester primers? Now go and re shoot the good ones and see if they repeat.

Richard, I don't own a chronograph so I haven't checked speed. The only load I ever chronographed was 310 apb with 70 gr 4198 and it was 2749 fps. So far I haven't had any issues with the win. primers. I have shot it around 200 times. I'm using Luke's plug with a .040 bushing.
