While in Crestview I visited a gun shop "Precision Tactical" and saw that they carried the Magpul hunter 700 stock, I shouldered it and verified the aluminum bedding block, adjustable length of pull, check rest change outable,...For 259 plus tax I had to have it...The owner of the shop was very impressed with it and would shoot it right along his highend builds/stocks combo....He has bottom metal galore there if anyone is in need...... I'm sending it up to HillBill to see what he thinks and to put it with my 700mlbrakebruxbuild.....Its a true drop in stock just have to have bdl screws as I tried it with the adl's and nogo...

What barrel contour are you using. Barrel channel is .920 diameter barrel for 5.5 inches from breach.

I matched up my mcgowen modified sendero up with it at the shop...I'm hunting today but will see how it will handle my #7 pacnor...I put a stock 700ml in it and it has plenty of room to spare...I've got something to put in it for sure....

What color did you get? I sure like that stock and I just happen to have a action setting around waiting to be barreled and dropped into something.

I will post some pics when it gets here, I will test fit Allan's barreled action in it and see what it looks like.

I don't know if its going to work out or not,but there are some tactical gun builders already putting highly modified 700 centerfires in this stock and are shooting extremely well at very long distances.... Keith...have you seen these..? Whats your take on them...?

Allen..............if I were going to use it (and it looks to be a nice stock) I would scrap the BDL bottom metal, use an ADL trigger guard and fit a nice flush aluminum plate on the bottom. Looks to be a no brainer?

Keith...have you seen these..? Whats your take on them...? I've only seen pics. I haven't put hands on one. I think it's a neat concept but don't have any experience to offer. I like the ability to use one stock for multiple barreled actions.

Allen, was hillbill successful in getting that #17 barrel to fit in your new stock. I'm looking at this same stock as well and would like to know if it did and how much if any extra work was involved.

Allen, was hillbill successful in getting that #17 barrel to fit in your new stock. I'm looking at this same stock as well and would like to know if it did and how much if any extra work was involved. I ended up taking my modified sendero remmac .45 and dropping it into the stock....I had to open up the barrel channel some for it,but it is freefloating now....There are screws that are in the barrel channel area that I started to sand down in the process....I'm thinking the #17 will be just too big for it at this time.....I'm trying to make time to shoot it to see what I have now.....I will report my findings asap.....There was a review that I read reporting the buttpad was too hard for heavy recoil ,so the guy bought the modular buttpad piece that magpul makes for the Remington 870....He was able to install a wider and more recoil friendlier pad . That part fits the 700 hunter and he was good to go with it......
