I ran into the same thing right after the first of the year shipping a barrel by itself to a builder they saw the name on the address and wouldn't let me ship it so I changed the name to just the builders name and not company name and took it to another location. Its getting ridiculous I am just going to my local gun shop from now on.

Guys--I'm not sure what exactly happens when I hear about these cases but Gun Broker, Buds Guns Shop and all your local dealers ( how do you think they get their guns?) would not be in business if FedEx, USPS, and UPS refused to ship weapons. They haven't. Heck--Hankins Custom Rifles would not exist most likely if Jeff could not ship and receive firearms. I send and get guns and parts all the time. I'm taking a .280 to USPS Thursday that is going to Kentucky. You are running into a dumbass at the shipping point and/or you are saying too much. Just follow the rules.
Regards,
Don

It is perfectly legal to ship long guns to and from a dealer. Hand guns are a little more involved but long guns should be know problem..... I have seen where the person behind the counter is anti gun or just plain scared to except it however there are no restrictions from either ups usps or fedex for shipping long guns as long as it goes to a dealer.. If you have problems it's usually because the clerk thinks they know the law and really they do not.. Talk to the post master or go to a different post office. If you are shipping to me and run into a snag I will gladly email you my FFL to present to the post master... But I very rarely need to do that..

Mooseman wanted to ship his Savage ML via UPS and they flat out refused. I directed him to USPS and it got shipped! I use my local UPS store to ship most all my ML builds and have no problem what so ever. The people there know exactly what I am shipping as I talk with them all the time. On the questionnaire I ALWAYS state: "muzzle loader parts!" Another thing I don't like to see is guns being shipped in gun type boxes or cases. I can fit most all muzzle loaders broken down in the same box Boyd's ships their stocks. I line the bottom, top and sides with extra pieces of card board along with peanuts or air bags inbetween. It makes for a nice compact package and does not resemble a gun. It is probably also cheaper since the size of the package is smaller.

If I ever need to ship a muzzleloader again I will go to a gun store and have the FFL holder ship it, I found a store that will charge 20% of the shipping fee.
A great bargain
I shipped the buyer of the boots and socks, he is in Ohio, tracking says the package is in Denver, Colorado, maybe it when to see the super bowl
