A buddy just picked up a TC Compass in 6.5 CM for his boy, and asked me to sight it in for him. I've admittedly never been a fan of the cartridge, but this kind of accuracy is unbelievable. 3-9 Nikon scope and Winchester Deer Season XP. Cheap gun, cheap ammo, go figure...

Good shooting!
Lots of guys report crazy accuracy out of those TC bolt guns.
I'm married to my Encores. So versatile. I've been messing with them since their debut, around 1998. Too far invested into them to turn away now.
I never jumped on the 6.5CM bandwagon either. Way back, I had a 260Rem handgun barrel built before all the CM madness, and it was a sweet shooter.

Thanks! The only thing I can credit for the shooting is that I must not have had coffee that morning. I've got enough Contender stuff to keep me occupied for a while. Love the Encore/Contender platforms. Can't match the versatility. Maybe the new stuff will be as good... gd

I got a few now, but still sucks to have to switch up. Getting crazy when you got Encores set up in calibers for thick woods, thin woods, fields, mz season, special public land draw hunts, tree stands, ground blinds, and squirrel season. I dont know if I should give 🙄 or a lol. 😇😇😇

A lot of people don't give the 6.5 creedmoor the credit it deserves. It is an excellent cartridge and will do what it should do. The right bullet choice and the right shot placement and you can take just about anything walking.

My biggest gripe about the CM comes back to component availability, and velocity. As a hunter, it does absolutely nothing (and slower) than the 260 Rem does, or the 6.5x55 did 100 years before it. I really hate duplicitous cartridges, and unfortunately that's the name of the game in this industry. I'm just of the opinion that the 6.5 PRC (or better yet the 26 Nosler) is what the CM should have been from the beginning (not to mention the .264 WM). It just fills a gap that was already full, and didn't need filling??? I don't know, maybe I just don't get it. Just seems to be completely unnecessary. I guess marketing really works... JMHO gd

JMHO gd It's all about marketing and selling more rifles. I agree with you, the 260 Remington is a better round in most cases. I do feel the 6.5 PRC and the 26 Nosler is way over bore for caliber and barrels will not last long. The 6.5 Creedmoor will shoot 1000's of rounds and at the ranges 90% of people will be shooting it will do just fine.

Hank, Barrel life sells a lot of rifles. Especially to the target crowd. And let's be fair, the guns chambered in the CM cartridge are usually very accurate (case in point, the original post... LOL). Also, you're on point with the average range 90%+ of the population will be shooting. Very few of them would ever know the difference. Given the advantage of a ton of factory ammo on the shelves, it's not a bad option for the average guy. I know there's a lot more ammo on the shelves for the CM than my 25-06... FWIW, one of the guys who writes for Outdoor Life killed a grizzly with a CM up in Alaska (admittedly a foolhardy stunt, but it worked). gd

Oh they got the marketing part right, every gun writer telling you about how great it is. I hope the 25prc becomes a factory round.
