Does anybody on here have experience with the .416 shooting the heavier 450gr bullets? If so could you give me an idea on how much velocity you are getting with that beavy of a bullet.
I realize the 450s will more than likely be boattail or rebated boattail but I was kind of hoping someone might have tried it anyway.
Thanks.

340CEB is the heaviest for me. Earnhardt on the other board may have shot some heavier. At some point I feel the velocity lost from heavier bullets is not made up by BC.

Fishhawk,
What was your velocity?
I agree with the dimishing returns as well.

2700-2800fps, never played with powders slower than H4350. Showed pressure signs on my 209 ignition above 98gr of powder.

I tried the same bullet from mine at around the same speeds. truth be told I don't care to shoot anything much heavier at that speed, brake or no brake. with a gun in the 15 lb range and a brake maybe some heavier but not much. with the 340s at that speed the down range ballistics are crazy, even for a cf gun. retained energy over 1000 yds is really high and it shoots fairly flat as well..
