I had to change my scope on my 45 McRem due to the side focus stopped working on my 2 year old 4-14x50 Zeiss Conquest. Zeiss sent me a new Conquest HD5 3-15x50 since they no longer repair the older Conquest. I took 2 shots at 100 yards and dialed the crosshair to the point of impact. The height was perfect so didn't have to make an adjustment for that. I then made a 12 click up adjustment for a 200 yard shot.
I put the crosshair on the target and pulled the trigger. With that shot I killed my first pumpkin. LOL You can see the pumpkin painted white sitting on the ground to the left of my target stand.
Load is a 250 FTX sabotless pushed by 95 grs. by weight of BH209 with a wool wad and a Fed. 209A primer.
Entrance
Exit
I was hoping for an explosive result but oh well it was still fun! The next day I decided to shoot a 3 shot group at 200 yards with the same bullet and load.
I saw the hole get larger after the 2nd shot but wasn't sure where the 3rd shot went. When I got to the target I was all smiles.

That's a dead pumpkin. Good shooting, and you gotta love the FTX's for versatility.

Great group!!! Impressive!! I have ghe New HD5 3-15 as well. Have yet to sight it in on my .308. It seems to be very clear, edge to edge at 15X. Good solid clicks. I have read good and bad about holding up to SML Recoil. How do u like the scope so far? How does it compare to your Older conquest?

It doesnt seem to be any better than my older Conquest but we will see how it does at last light this coming deer season. I also have a 5-25x50 HD5 on a 7mag but it hasn't been out of the safe in 2 years.

Do you have an estimate using the rz800 reticle with an average load out of a Thompson conversion & 275 BE what distance you would be able to hold over up to using the hash marks. Good luck with the scope.

nyhunter, I wish I could help but I'm not familiar with the rz800 reticle that Zeiss uses.

I shot the 250 TEZ. 275 BE and the 270 Emax at 200 yards yesterday. Same load as before 95 grs. by weight of BH209. The 250 TEZ was knurled but not enough and the fit was to loose and the first bullet missed the target board completely so I didn't shoot anymore of them. The 275 BE and the 270 Emax were shot straight from the pack. They fit a little loose so I will knurl them before I shoot them again which I think will tighten up the group. I don't have to knurl them in my other McGowen when shooting smokeless. This is the target for the 275 BE with a slight left to right wind. This is the target for the 270 Emax, not as much wind when I shot this group. Nothing exciting but would have got the job done on a deer.
