CVA scout 45-70 conversion, what kind of distances are y’all comfortable shooting with these guns? Send some pics of awesome groups at y’all’s comfortable distance. And what’s a good/budget scope to go with on this gun?

I'm still waiting on my Scout to arrive so I can send it out for the conversion. That said, I have shot my Savage out to 300 yds, and would feel comfortable shooting deer at 250 with it. Over the years I've taken a few just past 200 yds with no issues. In this part of Indiana, opportunities well beyond 200 yds can be rare. I'm hoping the Scout can go 300 with some room to spare, but if I need to stop it at 250, that's fine also.
As far as optics, my thought is that you need to decide whether you want a budget scope, or do you want to shoot far? If 200-250 yds is an acceptable max distance for you, then you just need a scope that's tough enough to hold up on your rifle. If you want to be able to routinely take shots in the field past about 200 yds, you should plan on spending some money on a good FFP optic with a Christmas Tree style recital of your choosing, and then go learn how to use it in the wind out past 400 yds. Regardless of what rifle I'm using, this is my process for shooting at ANY animal noticeably farther than 200 yds, and it has served me well in the field.

Well, I would say these scounts are very good out to 300 yards, I have set a few up for others 3 inches High at 100, dead on at 200 and around 6 inches low at 300, this is with a 275 pittman, with my load which Hank mention's in his youtube films as MAX!! Scopes I have heard it mentioned here before BUY ONCE CRY ONCE , would use six screw rings, I have mounted the VORTEX 4x24x50 30 mm on 10 or 12 cva the run around $330.00 the reason for those buying. The turrets are not true zero stop, but useable, I use Nightforce NX8, may be for sale have a couple extra, another scope to consider is the MEOPTA, I would pick that over VORTEX Check out EURO OPTICS

What y’all think about the vortex venom 5x25x56mm? I’m about to buy it for 450 bucks figured that’s a good deal if the scope is a good one
