I'm currently collecting all the parts I need to do a conversion on a CVA Scout. I have a new blued Scout sitting here waiting on me to save up enough money to pay for the conversion. I've been shooting a Savage 10ML-II since 2003, and have been a member over on Doug's board for almost as long. With the savage, load has been a stout charge of Reloader 7 under a 300gr SST. My reason for building the rifle is mainly because my current setup does SO much damage to the deer, and secondarily to my shoulder My goal is to use a 195gr Barnes because I'd like to have a bullet that expands reliably, but still gives me pass throughs. I'm planning on sticking with Reloader 7 at this point because it seems to be the most reliable and sabot friendly powder. I've seen recommendations of 58-63gr of R7 with the 195gr Barns, but I've also seen posts where people are claiming to have used over 70gr with bullets in this weight class without exceeding 40,000 psi which sounds like the generally accepted max pressure for these guns (please correct me if I'm mistaken). I've been reloading metallic cartridges for decades, but its been a long time since I did nay load development on an SML so I'd like to double check with people who have more experience in this arena. Thanks, Mark
