Has anyone here used Gordons Reloading Tool, a (free) software that purports to do the same thing as QuickLoad? I was listening to a podcast from up here in Canada (Ballistically Speaking Podcast, Ep. 35) the other day and their guest was Blake Williams from Reloading All Day / Shooters World Powders. Talking internal ballistics, load development, safe loading pressures etc. and he mentioned that they use Gordons instead of QuickLoad. Wondering if any of you have any experience with it / have used it for SML load development.
Cheers, Mitch

THEY Say ....Quickloads has more detail , i guess would be the word ?? It surely beats nothing but i guess results dont line up on equal basis with Quickload results . It has less tuneability Im Told for a muzzleloaders use ?? QL really wasnt developed for SML either but has been tweaked thru its tuneability for our use ?? I bought the QL program personally and then my laptop croaked . I should be compareing data from Gordons to what i have already from QL . Havent done it . I can tell you Gordon died a little bit ago . I dont know who is overseeing it now . He intended it to grow in every way possible and be a reliable source for all . I would hope his visions development could continue .

Thanks Sideshow. I played around a little with Gordon’s the other night and it was really accurate to the velocities and pressure signs I’ve seen with my metallic cartridges. Even with the default values, haven’t tried to tweak anything yet. Pretty cool. I have a copy of QuickLoad on the way as well, will be interesting to check them against each other. And maybe spring for a straingauge setup before too long to record actual chamber pressures… :-)
