Has anybody tried the Interlock out of a cva conversion? Imr 4198 will be the powder.

This deer was shot with the Interlock bullet you asked about. Dennis shot this deer in Tennessee and yes it’s the entry and not the exit wound.

I also want to added that there is way better bullets on the market to harvest deer with than an Interlock.

I found some cheap enough and thought I would pick some up just to shoot and save my better bullets to hunt with. Dennis did you use a wad or without and how many grains did your shoot. I have Direct ignition.

Well, yes, I have and quite frankly I do love my SML 45-70 conversion. I usually kill 10 to 16 deer a season during cull hunts with muzzleloader. I couldn't get any Parker or Fury's in time to work up a load 2 years ago for a pig hunt I was going on with my son. I had 250gr XTP's and they worked very well in my Knight 45 with Black Powder Sub. So, I sighted in the SML and off I went I killed 2 pigs first one at about 70 yards broadside and open it up like above deer. 2nd was at about 30 yards and shot it behind ear and made an even bigger mess. Purchased 275gr Parkers and killed 4 or 5 deer from 60 to 80 yards hits where in shoulder bone. Killed deer most did run 50 yards or so. 1 I had to shoot the 2n time destroyed to much meat. I had purchased 1oo of the 245gr Interlock and did have to play with sizer some as they would tumble at 100 plus yards. I called and talked to Fury Bullets, and he suggested a wool wad that I started using and helped increase bore fit and MV. I purchased a few boxes of the 275 black tipped Furys as well. This year when back to GA. and shot about an 80 lb. pig at say 40 yards. It was facing me with head down and feeding shot it where spine would connect to skull and with 2 other witnesses in the canoe with me. The Fury hit and opened it up about the size of a soft ball. With the hog running probably 60 -70 yards. It was a black pig and the red hole we all could see with naked eye. I'm shooting IMR 4198 (57rs) @ 2500fps.I haven't found anything that stays together if you hit heavy bone and really dislike that. Gun is very accurate, and you really need to hit behind shoulder, but I think the soft points do as good under 100 yards as higher priced bullets. I do like the Fury's and the Parkers and will be trying different shot placements with both this season..My 2 cents.
