i recently picked up a ML10-ii, shot less than 75 times and am building it for my two kids, (11 and 14). i am planning on putting a brake on it and am seeing hanks brakes and really like the the Master Blaster. It looks like my snowy mountain rifle breaks that are on all my high power rifles. Now i see in the discription that it can only be opened up to .45 cal. i dont want a self timing and am wondering if he makes the Master Blaster for the.50. or a similar brake to the Master Blaster for the .50. Thanks

I definitely wouldn’t try sabots in a Master Blaster type brake, or any other type brake for that matter. There’s a good chance you’ll blow the brake off the barrel shooting sabots. I don’t know of any reason the larger Master Blaster that Hankins builds wouldn’t work on a .50, but again, not with sabots. You’d also need a loading funnel made to fit as well, otherwise you’ll have to remove and install the brake each time you load it.

I had shot many sabots thru my radial brake. I did find the accuracy was not quite as good but not bad. I would hunt with it but not contend at the Challenge!

On Gill style brakes I have found that if you go .120 (I.D.) over bore - you will have great accuracy with sabots. The increased size of the hole doesn’t seem to decrease the brakes effectiveness. Sabots are trying to open as soon as they exit the barrel. I actually used a .50 cal brake that was opened to .560 for a funnel (on a .45 running sabots) and everything shot accurately. Below is the inside diameter that many I have helped -and works well -set up for sabots. So far it’s working well - but may not for you. Smaller diameter brakes not opened up -have yielded torn petals and the brakes have shown plastic stuck on the inside. This is my experience with Gill brakes -proceed with caution.
.620 for a .50 cal .570 for a .45 cal.

Yes, the brake can be opened up to 50 caliber. That should not be a problem.
