Anyone use varget powder for this setup. I was told try 84.5 gr of varget and go down from there. Seems like a huge load to me. Any actual advice appreciated. Hopefully someone shoots varget and can give accurate advice

Hopefully someone shoots varget and can give accurate advice Barrel spec, powder chamber size, ignition system, shoulder barrel vs nut gun vs break action are all things you will want to list for the most accurate answer. I myself have not used varget but everyone will need more information before they give you a load. Just trying to stream line you getting the info your looking for.

I don't have any experience with the load your talking about but I would start low and work up instead of the opposite for safety reasons

Hopefully someone shoots varget and can give accurate advice I have used varget with a brux #17 barrel 1-14 twist. I also have a powder chamber and have used this powder with 325 and 350 grain bullets. As others have stated -more info is needed. I do not have pressure data and my loads are close to flattening primers. This powder might be too fast for my heavier bullets but it shoots amazing and clean with it. I will not recommend the amount of powder for you to try until you give precise details. You can PM me for info.

I have a non-chambered 26” barrel 40 cal that I initially shot 225/228g AMs @ 2950 with 7g VV110 under 70g of Varget. Ignition is 209 thru a 0.030 bushing. That load was incredibly accurate but, likely a bit too hot. With a 275g bullet, it’d be very hot, imo.
Gun specifics are needed before going farther.
