What gun are you shooting? Scout or M700? If a Scout IMR 4198 and H4198 using 65gn max with a 250gn will give you around 2500 fps. Reduce if want less velocity.

If you reduce it too much, you may have to add a wad!

If you reduce it too much, you may have to add a wad! Definitely don't want to use a wad if I don't have to. So I'll keep things in the upper 2000 to 3000 I guess

So I'll keep things in the upper 2000 to 3000 I guess I would think your going to exceed your velocity goal by about 250 fps with 65gr of 4198 ?? I believe about 57gr even without a wad should put you at 2500 fps or close to it . I personally dont mind a wool wad because of the accuracy i get shooting reduced with a xtp ?? Thats just me maybe i dunno . X-treme bullets or Berrys i find make excellant plinker practice rounds @ $70ish for 500 that are swedged , then copper plated , and swedged again and shoot good with reduced loads and no wads . They obturate much easier and are accurate . Groundhogs or yotes dont like them much either . Paper gets boring....... X-treme bullets have plated 220gr 40s for about the same price and useages that i like pretty good too . They shoot also in a sabot nicely for a 45 if thats prefered or needed .
