We will be eating on Friday night., all day Saturday and half a day on Sunday... As you that have been to one of the shoots know we don't walk around hungry... So rattle off some suggestions..

How bout a big pot of chicken and dumplings, cornbread, squash with onions and green beans...? Venison countryfried steak and gravy and taters....Everyone bring some of their favorite venison sausage for breakfast....Maybe a Brunswick stew like you made in the fall...If available I'm bringing cobia to fry up with hushpuppies and coleslaw....Or a mess of fresh mullet...they are good to eat coming from our clean water in my neck of the woods....Just a couple suggestions that came to mind...OR have Hooters cater...

If I were coming, I would bring 15-20 S-L-O-W cooked racks of baby back ribs. Marinated in apple juice, worstershire, cinnimon, maple sugar, maple syrup, crushed garlic for 24 hrs. Turned every 6 hours in the fridge. Covered in a pan and cooked for 6 hrs on 220 degrees. Drained, and uncover. Let them rest and cool for 1/2 hr.
Make a BBQ sauce: Bunch of Jack Daniels Hickory flavor, off the shelf BBQ sauce. Add plenty of honey, maple syrup, molassis, ketchup, yellow mustard and Cayenne pepper. Cook on a very low boil for 1/2 hour to infuse the pepper into the sauce.
Baste the ribs liberally and put back in over, uncoverd for 2 hours on 180 degrees. Baste every 1/2 hour on all sides. Use cookie cooling racks to let heat get to all sides as the glaze seals around each rack. Separate into 1/3's and pile on a huge platter. Take all basting sauce and spatula into a large salad bowl for those who want to really dunk and dip these ribs some more sticky, lip smacking kick ass sauce.
If I were coming, that's what I would bring. If they were done RIGHT before you left you could reheat them in an oven and they would be de-lish the next day. Cause that's what I eat for lunch as left overs when I do this.
Ribs are AMAZING when care and love is used to prepare. Lickin my lips thinking about it.
I know what I will be buying at the store next time I go!

I used the word "cold" since I did not want to get it mixed up with the Cole, whose Avtar, resembles a brain mass....... if you get my meaning! Rambler brought this to my attention! But yes, it is served Cold and it is Slaw!.................Therein lies the problem with Spell Check? WORD would have picked it up as an improper phrase!

I don't think anyone would have mixed up cole slaw with Cole on the other board. I hope to make the trip if my funds hold out to try some of that "cold slaw"
