I wish everyone good luck this weekend. My main reason for the post, I am looking to hunt gun and muzzle season next year in ohio. 2 years ago I drove 9 1/2 hours to hunt state land with not good results. I stayed in a campground in nellsonville with a tent for three days. As much fun of a experience it was, no deer to show for it. If anyone can point me in a better direction for next year that would be great. I wouldn't mind joining a lease or paying for land rights. I am 51 and have a passion for deer hunting(sml has bit me hard) lymans@nycap.rr.com Any help will be great.

I'll be in hunting in Delaware county for ML season. It looks like a cool down is coming. I hope it gets the big boys off their bellies and feeding. Good luck.

It looks like we will be getting wet. 80% chance of rain before it cools off.

It rained yesterday and warmed up. This morning fog set in so visibility was down to 50 yards. I did see 4 deer within range. This afternoon should be better.
My hunting partner passed on a couple of deer too. All in all not a bad opening morning. It's supposed to rain overnight ushering in the cold front. Hoping for the best.

hawghunter, if the fog clears, see if there is room for another hunter next year(hint...me). Have a safe hunt and shoot straight.

I live in Maine but have hunted Ohio for several years. Like any state its location, location, location. You can have 65 deer on a farm day in and out and a mile down the road the guy has nothing. Some things we have found are good bedding area/ and food source, either crops or big honking bait pile wins. Also check out any lease in person before you drop a dime. We have had Junk leases that were 5 grand and some that were as good as a deer farm.

I'm out for the last afternoon.
One of the guys in camp took a 9pt maybe 130". Another guys son shot a beauty, pushing the mid 150s I've passed everything so far but was tempted last night. Two buck were in my crosshairs but I decided to let them live another day. Both were outside their ears. Be weather has been all over the place. 40s to single digits. 1/2"" of rain now 3" of snow with below zero wind chills. Wind gusts over 30mph, sustained over 20.

Hawghunter ------- At least you seen something! 3 days in the woods and the only thing I seen was a bunch of guys wandering around.I guess if we decide to hunt Public Land again in Ohio we will have to go somewhere different. We hunted Mosquito and Grand River.Good luck to you!

Tag soup for me. I saw deer everyday but very few in the morning. My partner had a clean miss late yesterday afternoon. It was the 3rd buck that walked by.
