...got a message today from a guy ready to quit muzzloader hunting. He says he can't kill a deer with a muzzleloader. I offered to sell him my Savage Pac 50. I accidentally told the wife I have 5 muzzloaders anyway. Don't know which part was worse? On the bright side I have another SS Remington ML action ready to go if he takes it.

Love my wife but when it comes to my hunting and fishing the equipment part is a need to know situation.

My biggest fear in life is when I'm dead that my wife sells my firearms for what I told her I paid for them.

My wife don't ask and I sure don't tell her what they cost.

Actual black powder may be the most forgiving propellant in a muzzle loader. Especially an inline with 209's. You really have to mess up (like pour water down the barrel) to not get ignition. Subs are much more finicky. Pellets the worst. They all work great when used exactly properly, but real black powder is almost fool proof and I would go back to that in a heartbeat if the regs did away with SML in my state.

Sorry for taking a while to reply. I hope the guy gets with me so I can check his setup out. I hope this is not going to be a situation like some of the other guys I know. Leave it loaded year to year and whatever you do, don't clean it! I heard this story 4 times at work the week before muzzleloader season.
