a buddy of mine just bought a new gunwerks 300 prc rifle. They gave him the spec for reloads, and I handloaded about 20 rounds for him starting with a very conservative load. he went out and shot the rifle and said the bolts lifted about 1/2 then was very tight, once lifted all the way he could barely eject the case. I told him to get some factory loads, and we shoot this past sunday and it was the same story with factory ammo. I loaded another round with 5 grains less powder but no change. after shooting the bolt will lift about 1/2 way, then it is very tight. once it is raised completely it is very difficult to eject the case.
I also noticed where the body of the case and shoulder meet the rifle was leaving a very deep scratch almost completely around the case. it did it on the handloads, and on the factory ammo. he is trying to get in contact with Gunwerks,
anyone have any ideas?

I would use a bore scope and check for a burr from the reamer.

I would use a bore scope and check for a burr from the reamer. Ditto. Had a similar problem with a Ruger American Predator in .204R with a deep scratch around each spent case. It turned out to be the result of a bad reamer. Ruger fixed it without any fuss.

Yep Sounds like they didn't check their chamber with a bore scope before sending it out, make the fix it!

Yep Sounds like they didn't check their chamber with a bore scope before sending it out, make the fix it! Right! Not to mention test firing... Umm, shouldn't such an issue be corrected BEFORE a rifle is received by the customer? Just my opinion anyway... At least that's the customer service I would expect. The best "warranty" is one you never have to use.

I think this story underscores always wearing safety glasses while test firing any new firearm. I realize the hard ejection probably isn't a pressure sign in this case but the fact that there is a problem where one wouldn't be expected is significant.
Everybody makes mistakes but some can be truly life changing.

On all the CF and ML rifles I build, I always fire at least one test shot: it lets me know the case has been properly formed and extracts.

he called gunwerks and said it was a very brief conversation. he sent the rifle back, but has not heard what the issue is yet.
