Yup i just picked up a clean used one. I had sold my 3 caplocks some years back. Went to the sml, but i have truely missed hunting with them. So i am sure i will be hunting with this one this year. I will see what it likes best RB or Conicals

Helped a mentor of mine unload a Kentucky rifle with a stuck ball this winter, then went to cleaning it. The nostalgia was nice for a moment. Don’t think I’ll give up the SML, but, like you, may give it another whirl. Longbow instead of compound. Compound instead of crossbow. Cutting wood instead of adjusting thermostat….it’s a whole different mindset when you don’t “have to”!

Geez i am going backward in time n life. I found out in this rented house central heat sucks n is costly. Fixing to go back n plant our garden. Were moving to another place & we have gotten a wood stove, so i will be cutting firewood again, best heat i have ran across in my lifetime. I have the sml, plus an inline .50. Not complaining on them. I started off shooting an old ML my Grand Pa had in the late 50's. It just has grown in me, love shooting them

I have way more good hunting stories using in-line BP rifles then SML's. They all work great. Love a smoke cloud where you KNOW you were on target but when it clears there is no deer in sight. Is it DRT or do I have a nice healthy blood trail to follow?

I received my Hawken this morning. Very nice it was, great looking bore. It's an early model has clean out hole n no warning stamped into the barrel. We have a Gun Show coming on May 14/15. I am going to look for some accessories for it. I am pumped, we have an early 2 day ML season 3rd weekend in Oct. I am looking to get a tik toter or 2 for the freezer

Going through my packed belonging in my ML stuff. I found a box of .45 maxj-balls, 16 of them. I have a can of 3f Goex n 3f Trip 7 to start out with. I picked up a .45 maxi-bold mold, ordered a ball started n .bag of 100 cast .440 balls. I have some patching material on hand in my stuff. I don't have any percussion caps in #11. Have a tin of Rem.#10.'s for my .44 Army n they fit ok. Hopefully i can get to the range in early May for some shooting time

Geez percussion caps are higher than a cats back. Plus none that i know of to be bought around Paducah, Ky. There is a Gun Show May 14/15th, so i shall be there when the doors open. I have a back-up, Accra-shot. I have 700 small rifle primers for it, i have about 85 musket caps, 80 or so of Rem. #10. I have a Mag spark that uses 209's, i have 1200 of them.

Is it DRT or do I have a nice healthy blood trail. I have had some sure enough blood trails to follow n those that just some hair was at the shot spot. I was hunting the Little Sunflower river n swamp. Using my Hawken .50 prb, shot a nice Doe, she was gone when smoke cleared. Found the the cut hair no see Doe. Did not find a drop, grid searched for est. 60 yds. I stumbled up on wide hole about 15 yds cross n coupled foot deep. There she was laying there blood pooled around the exit. I had hit a bit high in the lungs

Well the Gun Show was a bust, found one pack of 100 .015 dry patch material to load rb. I came home n ordered a T Cash capper & Tresco good ball starter. I just ordered from graf & sons a lee 4-20 lead melting pot. Plus 4 lb of Trip 7 3F. Whew prices are going very high. No primers or caps in stock n no back order
