Does anyone have any experience replacing the grips on the New Model Super Blackhawk? FWIW it's the 7.5" .44 mag with the square-backed trigger guard. A friend picked one up, and he's not a fan of the lack of recoil control with the factory grips. Appreciate any experience/info you can impart...

I put a set of Hogue’s on mine and really liked it.

Thanks guys! Have done a little research, and I'll pass along the suggestions. I won't let him make alterations without some field testing for myself. LOL! May have to field test it for him during the next deer season (If only for scientific analysis).

My dad currently has my Blackhawk but if I remember correctly the Houge grip lowers you hand on the grip.

Mine saved my middle finger from getting thumped by the back of the trigger guard at every shot. It also saved the side of the palm from getting racked each shot by the bottom metal of the handle.

I like the grip but it dose change the recoil of the gun. I would like to say there is less roll of the gun and the shooter takes more recoil. I thought it made the gun more comfortable to shoot. You do not have to reposition the gun between shots

Well, it now has a new Hogue grip. Handling it before and after, I'm interested in seeing how it feels during recoil. It most definitely lowers grip position, and it eliminates impact of the square-backed trigger guard (not real sure who thought that was a good idea on a 44 mag). If I can talk my way into some range time (or maybe just stop by with a box of ammo?) I'll let you know what I think. LOL
