Guys. along time ago, Kyle started talking to me about a new bullet, He wanted to know what I thought of this new design idea and at the time it wasn't even on paper yet. Well you all know what my answer was..... I told him I thought it was a great idea and would be an asset to the 45 caliber muzzle loader world. I told him if you make them people will want them. So this conversation helped start Pittman Bullets. A company I am sure will grow over time and could possibly offer many more bullet diameters and weights in the near future.
I got the first five bullets out of the dies and shot a quick group the day I got them and then headed to the field where I knew dome deer would be right before dark. Mindy and myself climbed up the tower stand and the deer were already out in the field. I shot two of them within a minute and a half, maybe faster, anyway Mindy was recording all this but I had previously been using my external mics and we forgot to turn them on so we have no sound in the video. All I can tell you is BANG/FLOP.... at over 250 yards. This was during out Kentucky gun season.
Once the Kentucky late muzzle loading season rolled around we had a sample pack of a few hundred bullets. I got 50, Bill got 50 and Kyle went to the range with 100. We had, I think three days to shoot them, I shot my Friday afternoon. I think bill shot his Thursday night in the dark using a couple flash light to make sure he was on at 100 yards. That Saturday we had a hunting trip planed and it was all video recorded. I was able to edit the videos and get them to YouTube so all of you guy could go on this hunting trip with us. Now we didn't get to shoot any big bucks but we had a great time and made memories that will last a lifetime. So without going into details about the hunt, here it is and you guys can watch it for yourself.... I hope you enjoy it as much as we did......
Then the following Thursday I decided I had a few hours to spare so Myself, Mike Trentman and Lapua headed back over to the farm to see if we could shoot a few more deer with he 452 Accumax. Boy did we ever.. Shot one at 402 and one at 433 yards and I'll be honest with you.... It was as easy as shooting them at 100 yards.... Dialed up and pulled the trigger..... These deer did run a little 30 yards and maybe 60 yards, but the were both very dead in only about 30 seconds...... Here is the hunt with Mike, Lapua and Myself.
Ok, Guys,,, Now go get you some Pittman Accumax Bullets.

Cool video. Kyle, my wife watches this show depicting a veterinarian up in Michigan named Dr. Pol. Those arm length gloves you have on look like the ones he uses to check pregnant cows with. Them bullets look to be doing the job!!

I read the jacket is 0.021". The MH is 0.028" and the BE is 0.015" How do you guys think they will hold up at closer ranges being pushed around the 2700 mark? Pure lead core or blend? By closer I mean inside 100 yards.

The jackets indeed are .021". These bullets are designed as a long-range hunting and target bullet. If you shoot through the ribs only, I would expect a pass through, with a good exit hole and the deer not making it very far. If you shoot it in the shoulder, expect the deer to fall dead right there with bullet performance midway between the two bullets that you mentioned. The Brinnel hardness of the lead alloy in my bullets is about 5.0. 99.9999% pure lead is about 4.0. Purity of this scale is extremely expensive. As you go up in Brinnel hardness you benefit from a bullet that will hold together better at close range, but I suspect not obturate as well in the barrel. My current design is as stated, a long-range hunting and target bullet.

we are not sure but I will bet that it will be DRT. keep in mind we were pushing this bullet at around 3075 so I doubt anyone would push it harder.
most guys will be shooting from 2200-2800 so we think it will do well.
Kyle wanted to build a all purpose bullet, Is there such a thing? there will always be trade offs but I think his line will fill a niche that will please both the paper punchers and the hunting crowd. Also keep in mind that this is a new bullet, its not a copy of the Match Hunter or the Parkers, it has a different profile, tip and jacket, tweaks can be made down the road if deemed necessary but out of the gate its very good.
New bullets are a good thing for us SML guys, whether it be Kyles bullets, Keiths bullets or the current offerings from Parker and others. I plan to shoot them all and see what works best for my specific needs just as you guys will. they will all sell lots of bullets and the more choices we have the better. Im not a bullet salesman nor is Richard, we will all report the facts on whatever we shoot, Im just glad to see more bullets to choose from and wish all the makers well...

Kbrezlin, I can tell you how they will preform at around 2400 fps and 70 yards .....front shoulders ( only cause he was moving and out of a H&R conversion ) if he would have stopped I would have double lunged him but that wasn't the case entrance in and exit are about the same thru both shoulders , Nose dive plowed the snow and leafs for 30 yards or so left a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow. Front shoulder damage .... LOTS but my thought is any deer hit in the front shoulder ,,, with what ever weapon your shooting usually shoulders are Coyote bait . Where I hunt its tight property line small parcels , so if that 140 class or your buck of a lifetime steps out this is what I want both shoulders and down .... so these bullets will work well for those slower break action gun as well .

Thats what I was wondering. The 300 BE's were explosive at 40 yards even at 2200fps, the 300MH I had to smack with 5 grains of Red Dot to get them to shoot well. This is the happy medium between the two. I have a strong preference for the 300 grain bullet for hunting so they should carry a little more thump. I like they are 452 so I may be able to get them to shoot better out of the stock savage 50.

Was out of town during the holidays and not really checking the boards much. Went to brand X board and saw where the Pittman video had been deleted so I knew it had to be something good so came rushing over to see what the real truth was.
Great job and very good looking bullet.mlook forward to further reports .

I would like to see the bullets that were recovered compared to the new ones. Maybe show the yardages of the shot with the pics, the angle of the shot and where it was recovered in the deer. I am big on what the bullets look like after they have done there job. I think that tells a lot about the bullet. That being said I like what I see.
