This is to you bkm, thanks for the tip on sizing issues thread about the lock-eze after cleaning. I was having some significant copper fouling from bullet seating to muzzle even from the first shot on a clean bore. After cleaning and patching with lock-eze I just scoped my barrel after 32 shots and the only copper I see is very minor at the last 2 inches of the muzzle end. So much good info shared on this board by so many. Maybe sometime we could have a section on cleaning tips so as for someone to have a place to look for such things without having to sift through too many posts. Thanks again bkm.

Ur welcome Dennis. I wish I could take credit for coming up with that but the truth is I read that from hall of fame bench rest shooter Speedy Gonzaliz. I have tried many things over the yrs to foul a clean barrel but Lock Eeze seems to work better than anything else I’ve tried. I’m glad it worked for u as well.

Probably a similar product would be "Moly prep!" I have been a big proponent of moly coated bullets on all my CF rifles. Midway sells (or at least sold) Moly prep. After cleaning my match 6mmBRX, I put a patch with this moly prep thru it. Montana Extreme has or had a product called "Bore Conditioner", a clear liquid you put thru a clean bore to eliminate that "dry" first shot.

I have never tried moly on bullets although I have been kicking it around. As u know I’m a tree farmer. I use lots of farming equipment and try to maintain my equipment well. Years ago I started using grease that had moly in it and I’m really pleased with it. I have a couple of questions about moly treated bullets. Is the pressure in the bore with a given powder charge lower than bullets that are untreated? If so can u simply add powder to achieve the same speed as untreated bullets ? Next, can u tell if barrel life is extended with treated vs untreated ? Finally, I’ve heard barrels that shoot moly bullets are hard to clean. Can u shed some light on these questions? Thanks

For those who use Lock Ease on a clean barrel, do you follow up with a dry patch to take out any excess, or call it good with the wet patch?
