These targets were shot with my heavy Dasher the first target was with 105gr JLK bullets the second target was shot with 103gr Vapor Trail bullets if you notice the two ugly faces out of the group they came from to cases that did not expand the same as the other 8 did. (8) expanded to .47210 and the two lower ones in second picture expanded less causing lower shots on the target you just never know about this brass. Target 3 was also shot with 103gr Vapor Trail bullets that was a perfect score of 100 which is a fluke since I had nobody spotting my shots just shooting at clay bird on back bank and hitting about a foot low to be on at 1000 yards
Know you can see why shoulder bump and neck tension are so important at 1000 yards I should also add the cases have to all expand the same amount less expansion means more volume in those cases even though they weigh the same there is a difference in the volume or the brass itself at any rate they don't below in the same group as the other 8.

There a few but most of the guys that tried them have giving up and gone back to the Dasher. My buddy built two of them and he could never get either one to be competitive I opened the chamber up to a dasher on his last BRA and it shot much better. The guys that have tried them ran into pressure spikes when the temp changed from morning to after noon temps. The Bra was supposed to more flexible than the Dasher we certainly have not seen that just 1/10th of powder made some pretty nasty changes in group size. It is a easier case to fire form but Just about everyone that shoots good on our range runs a Dasher.
The Dasher has just enough extra case capacity that you can run your charges up and down quite a bit The BRA. doesn't have that luxury. The Bra will make about the same velocity but at higher pressures your always running with a full case of powder loading density is important The Dasher just gives you more options to try.

I tried the dasher and for the reason stated in the above post by elkman about forming consistent brass I switched to the bra. It’s like the easy button to me forming brass and it’s also accurate enough to shoot a club match while doing so. Now that alpha is making bra brass it appears forming isn’t even a issue with the bra. No doubt in the right hands a dasher can win any match but so can a few other calibers including the bra and wsm. Having a good barrel and good Bullets are probably the most important of all.

I don’t even shoot benchrest matches but I have a few friends that do. Each of them favors the BRA over the Dasher. I was just curious why. Thanks for answering my questions and giving me a better understanding.

That is a nice 5 shot target we shoot 10 shot record light gun and heavy gun matches big difference between the to. It seems to depend on what part of the country you shoot in. Out in Montana the BRA does good here in Eastern Pa. at the Ordinal 1000 yrd club the Bra does not come close to ruling anything. The top shooters have giving it more than a fair chance and it doesn't match up against the Dasher on our range out of 90 some light gun shooters you may find 2&3 Bra on the line the rest are Dashers along with a few 6.5 guys and one or two 7mm then a handful of 300wsm most of the 300wsm guys went to Dashers to get away from the recoil but the 300wsm is extremely accurate when loaded and handled correctly on the bench.
If your looking for simply and easy the 1,000 yard benchrest game is not for you small consistent groups in all conditions comes with a lot of time spent at the reloading bench and the shooting range. Alpha brass is softer than Lapua brass and it also has a .080 flash hole which is a real deal breaker when shooting small primers. Peterson Dasher brass is pretty close to Lapua and it has a .062 flash hole the Norma Dasher brass was also softer then lapua and from what I here it is discontinued for the time being. So for many Lapua is the way to go.

Here is a nice 10 shot group shot with alpha brass and 80 flash hole. I believe it was just shot with a bra and is a pending IBS world record. It’s somewhere around 2.6 inches. I would be happy.

That is a heck of a group. I see where Alpha changed there brass for the Dasher and Bra and a few others and came out with a much strong cartridge head I don't know if they changed the size of the flash hole or not I hope they did. A Rep from Lapua was at our World Open match this past weekend and he said that the 6mm Dasher is on the drawing board to be made. They are also going to make the 300wsm and the 300 prc.
Our World open was not won by a 6mm Bra it was won by a 6mm dasher a 6.5/47 and a 300wsm the 6.5/47 and 300wsm was used by the same shooter to win two gun over all the two smallest groups shot in our match where both shot with 6mm dashers a 3.266 and a 3.442 for 10 shots Of the top 20 shooters there were no BRA'S some guys get lucky and can make a BRA work but I know to many top shooters that have tried one or two and gave up on them pretty fast. Hey the 6.5/47 is not popular on our range either but it out shot everything else so go with what you can make work the best.

I agree a 6.5x47, 300 wsm, dasher or bra in the right hands can all win matches. It’s safe to say if there were the same amount of dashers and bra in your match it would be a toss up which wins. The 6 target agg IBS record and the 10 target agg IBS record were both just broken for the second year in a row and I believe both those 2020 and 2021 records were held by a bra. I also believe the 600 yard IBS, the 1000 heavy gun and 1000 light gun are now held by some form of bra as well. The only way to know which caliber is best would be having the same shooters shoot each caliber in exactly the same conditions which can never happen as we all know. The bra is the new kid on the block and it’s tearing records down left and right so it must be ok, dasher has many more years of guys testing and shooting it. Give the bra 40 years like the dasher has had and then we will know I suppose who is king but by then there will be another caliber stealing the show. Both are fine calibers but right now the bra is on a roll! Hey congratulations on good shooting at the world open by the way.
