I have a SAURE 101 chambered in 308 Win. I've loaded several handloads and can shoot well under moa with a bunch of them. I get really good groups with Nosler BT's and 44.5 of Varget and this is my current hunting load. THe issue I'm having is that cup and core bullets seem to out shoot any of my loads with premium bullets. Do softer bullets obturate more and grab the rifling better? I got some factory ammo loaded with Barnes bullets and I could probably underhand puppy turds at a target and get better groups!!! Just seems the more stout the the bullet construction the worse the group. any info appreciated thanks guys!

No problems here. I shoot Barnes tsx and ttsx in several guns. Nosler BT shoot good in about anything. I use them for practice and then switch to Accubonds without any variances. I would keep trying, or maybe reduce bullet weight. I shot 130gr ttsx in a factory Encore 300wm sub moa to 500yds. They killed deer like nobody's business.

My best handloads for my 7mm Mag and the .270 Win are with max loads of powder (worked up from starting loads), Light for caliber TTSX bullets and a long jump to the rifling. 120 TTSX for the 7mm and 110 TTSX for the .270. Your gun obviously will shoot well as demonstrated by the Noslers. I have never messed with any heavy for caliber coppers due to whitetail being the targeted animal. However there are guys at camp with 7-08's, 7mm, 270, .308 that have shot the upper end weight bullets with mixed results, mostly medicore. IMO, coppers allow for much lighter bullets at high speed and still bust bone and get two holes in deer at any angle.

Accubonds did'nt do as well as BT's in my rifle. I'm keeping bullet weights in the 150-165 range and pretty much gave up on finding 150gr partitions. Barnes rounds were 130gr and maybe rifle just did'nt like the load. REM 180gr core lokts were an absolute no go also so I use them for foulers. I have enough BT's to get me through deer season. Thanks guys.
