Sorry for the dumb & fundamental questions but it seems tricky to find direct answers to my crazy and indirect questions. Can anyone assist or point me in the path?
HIS and DIS. What do they mean? Seen both acronyms in a lot of posts and thought I was on a military blog.
Muzzle break on the CVA Scout conversion. Generally how much recoil reduction are we talking about? 50% with 300 grain bullets? Saw that somewhere. I hate to drag another tool to the treesstand if I can leave it out. Really don't mind recoil that much. I can see the funnel getting dropped.
Magnum or Standard primers in the CVA?
Was the picatinny rail torqued and/or loc-titied prior to delivery?
Scope ring heights/suggestions for CVA Scout hammer access/clearance?
Accuracy experience with Hornady XTP 300 grain smooth-sized? Pittman's is out of stock and I got XTPs from my savage ml-10 days just laying about.
Load data for anything other than imr 4198? seen a few mentions but was hoping for a consolidated list to try since 4198 is like gold.

This is in the trophy room. I’d recommend putting it in general conversation of Smokeless muzzleloader.
HIS Hankins Ignition System A brass module that holds your primer and seals the breach plug. The plug has a .030” bushing installed. These come in bolt face sizes of 45-70 magnum and 308.
Direct Ignition System An aircraft screw holds your primer. Powder sits directly on end of screw.
Put your funnel on a neck lanyard. You won’t forget to remove it before you shoot.
Magnum primers are normally used but you can use standard.
I would doubt the base is loc-tited. I would recommend bedding it when setting the screws.
I used low rings on my Hunter.
I have no experience with 300’s. I like 325’s with reloader 16 powder. You might want to check Scat’s 45cal pressure traces.
Welcome to the board I think we would prefer you ask than wonder blindly. I personally am glad you asked. I bet there are others who have the same questions and don’t ask.

I will have AccuMax .452" 300's Tuesday 8/10/21 DIS is a hotter ignition, you will need to back off of the powder charge 10-15 percent possibly compared to HIS. Try both primers, with and without wads. Every gun has its own personality. If you hunt with a brake - use hearing protection.
