My Hankins 45 SPML: -Remington 700 SA -Brux Barrel, 20 tw, finished at 26", Hankins Contour -Manners MCS-T stock -Timeny 510 trigger -BAT Trigger Guard -Talley LW rings -Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5-10x32 with IHR reticle I have noticed a few people naming their guns. I purposely had his ML built to hunt cut grain fields. So, I thought the Corn Field Crusher was very fitting. I hope I haven't stolen someone's name. Anyway, I have only had it for a week now. I need it for an upcoming hunt, so I don't have much time for experimenting. I went right to 78 gr. of H4198 with a 275 Parker BE or 270 Parker Emax. This is my third smoKeless ML, but first time going sabotless. I am not sure I have the smooth bullet sizing down yet either. The gun has been very impressive, so far, to say the least. This is from my first range session zeroing the gun. I shot three rounds to get zeroed in. Then my neighbor and I rotated shots until each had shot a 3 shot group. The ML seems to be very consistent. The next day I went out to 200 yards to confirm the zero. These are my two targets. Target on the left is 275 BE and the target on the right is 270 EMax. Tomorrow I will try out to 300 yards and next week run it out to 500 yards to confirm my drop chart. I also chronographed three shots using 275 BE and three shots using 270 EMax. Both bullets were shot with 78 gr of H4198 and a Fed215 primer using the Magnetospeed V3. The results: -275 BE (2950fps, 2926fps, 2951fps) -270 EMax (3015fps, 3024fps, 2950fps) With both bullets, I got a lower fps reading (2926 w/ BE and 2950 w/ EMax) with a bullet that loaded easier than the rest of my bullets. I am not sure if the lighter loading pressure effects velocity. Like I said in the beginning, I am very new to smooth forming bullets. In conclusion, the Hankins SPML has more than met my expectations. Accuracy has been outstanding so far. And, loading and priming of the ML is very easy.

without a doubt you will be crushing more than corn. these guns will shoot with most custom center fires and hit like a freight train.

Welcome aboard Scallop!
I think you named your gun very fittingly for its intended purpose. Can't ask for much better performance than that, especially for its Maiden Voyage. Good shooting!
Jeff sure is a Master at his craft.
Congrats, and good luck with your gun!

Nice rifle. I think the 2.5-10x32mm is the best compact optic going right now.

Thanks for the nice words men.
Keith - I really like the scope. I have had it for a couple of years. It was on a SML I previously owned. I have used it to take about ten deer. I have no complaints thus far.

I bought mine before they had MRAD turrets so I had got rid of it after a few matches. I had one of the mil-spec 2.5-10x24mm versions too. Shot a few matches with it and sold it too because I liked the 32mm version better. I keep thinking I need another 32mm in MRAD but will likely give the SHV a shot this time; I've had F1 BEAST, NXS, and the BR before the NXS existed. I loved them all; really solid sights.

Scallop, Congratulations on your Hankins Smokeless Muzzleloader!!! You will definitely be able to crush a cornfield buck 400 plus with practice. I shot a very small deer at 309 yards with my Hankins Gun about 4 to 5 weeks ago.

Congrats on your new Hankins Muzzleloader, Jeff makes one hell of a rifle. I love the name. I was on a hunting trip in Missouri this fall and was headed out the second morning of the rifle season and one my friends said you taking that "Land cannon" out this morning... I Laughed and said YEP. That morning I shot a nice buck and My Hankins got its Name.... THE LAND CANNON. Enjoy it.... The gun really starts shooting good once you get 40-50 shots thru it... They are AMAZING!!

Don, nice muzzleloader and nice buck. I saw Jeff's instructional video on YouTube which featured your gun. Yes, Jeff was nice enough to invite me down to pick up my rifle and to show me the "ropes" and at the same time we filmed it to let others benefit from it as well. it was time consuming but SO worth it!!
