We had our 6th match of the year this weekend. Light gun on Saturday was a disaster for me. Conditions were not good a lot of switching wind but that didn't beat me I only had 9 shots on the target not 10. I use a speed loader that stacks 10 rounds in a vertical column and you pick one shell out at a time and then the next one drops down until all 10 are fired. I did load 10 shells into the loader I keep the loader away from the gun during the sight in period. I take my sighter rounds out of my amo box. Well went It got to the last 15 seconds of the sight in period I always fire my last shot to see if conditions held or not. Well I got distracted and reached up and pulled the speed loader into place right next the gun and without think I took one of my record rounds out of the speed loader and fired it down range at the sight in target.
I didn't even realize I did that until after I shot my record target and only was able to find 9 empty shell casings on the bench. I thought one fell into my shooting bag I wasn't that lucky I only shot 9 shots. What made matters worse was the 9 shots that I had would have one the relay for group and score. I can drop this match because we shoot 7 matches so we can throw one out for a 6 match agg. Heavy guns went ok I was able to stay centered up and shot a 95 score which keeps me in first place for score and still in first place for shooter of the year . it's all going to come down to the last match. I do have a second relay and a better bench than bench one which some how I have had 4 times in the last several matches.
Time will tell how this ends up.
