We did have some complications in the scoring of this match. Computers can only do what you program them to do and our formulas were off just a little. Now that I have had some time to do the math on paper I hope I have everything correct. If anyone wants to double check my math, Please do so and let me know of any errors. We had some great shooting by some of the best people in the Smokeless Muzzle Loading world. Congratulations to everyone for the fine job. Our conditions were good The weather was warm, and the food was great. Thanks to all that attended and a special thanks to those that helped build the new 26'X36' shelter. It will forever change the way we do our shoots. No more tarps and let it rain if it wants to. "Our range" has grown tremendously since the first shoot, two benches and a tarp over head, and I thank all of you who support the advancement of Smokeless Muzzle Loading.

Jeff and I had been in discussions over the corrections that had to be made to the final score board---Hey: "Fece' Occurs?" So, unbeknownst to me, Jeff generated a computer version of the scoreboard along with some description of what was contained.........which was fine! However, since I went to a lot of trouble to cut off the "grand" section of the scoreboard and splice in a new piece plus make other corrections, I thought I would put up the "grass roots" version but with a written explanation on how this "stuff" works! Lets say, you went to a registered benchrest Group only match.....You shoot five targets (five shots each), add up all five groups and divide by five which will give you the average or as they call it: Aggregate! Simple Due to the targets being measured to three places after the "dot", it is almost impossible to have a tie. Now, lets say you got to a registered Score match. You shoot five targets (each has five bull's with one (6th.) sighter bull. They tally the score and then count the "X's". If several shooters have a perfect 250, they then count the number of "X's". The most wins. If, say, two shooters both have a perfect 250 with 25 X's then they go back to the first target (the bulls are numbered 1 - 5) and the first shooter to have completely wiped out the "dot" (in the center of the X ring) becomes the winner. Should they both have all five wipe outs, they go to the second target until such time as a winner is generated. Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Here is the problem we run into when a match generated both a score winner and a group winner such as all long range IBS/NBRSA matches. In order to get and "overall or Grand agg." winner, you need a way to combine both score and group! The way this is done is by assigning every shooter a "position or place" for both their score and group. In our case this past weekend, we had 12 competitors. So lets say scored a first place in group at 100 yards and third place in score. You would generate a "4" for 100 yards. This goes on for all four yardages where the number are totaled. Every shooter will wind up with a number from all their yardages. When you go down that final column, the shooter with the lowest number becomes the "combined/grand agg" winner. Depending on how you want to run the match, you post winners for best in score 100 yard....best in group 100 yards.................and the same for the other three yards. Eventually you want to know who was the best in all yardages combined and that's how the winner is determined. As you look at the score board, I have highlighted with pink, orange and green dots, who is first, second and third in each category plus the standings of all the shooters.

Several guys shot really good (and one young lady) Look at the 100 yard group sizes, lots hovering around and under 1/2", to shoot under .5 under match conditions takes some calm nerves. Keith McDowell was just flat hammering the Xs, so was Mr. Clemons and Steve Blankenship, the big surprise of the whole match was Dennis! Dennis shot extremely well. And not to forget about the new 400 yd match record, incredible shooting It let guys like me know that I will have to get serious if I plan to finish above the middle of the pack in the next shoot.
congratulations to all who participated! Look forward to the next one.
Game on!

It was a great time once again. There’s a lot of behind the scenes work that takes place to make this shoot possible. I’m sure i would leave someone out if I tried to name them so I’ll just say thank u. U know who u are.
I’m convinced these guys are some of the best smokeless mzl shooters in the country. My 100 yd group was .509 and all x’s and it finished in 7 th place. Good grief! Hill Bill put it on us there for sure.
Kyle Pittman shot an incredible group (.916)at 400 yds and Steve Blankenship and Dennis Walkley kept the pressure on in every relay.
Everyone shot well imo and as the day warmed the mirage was so bad u couldn’t spot bullet holes with ur scope at 400 yds.
The class of the field was Mark Clemons imo. Mark had some equipment failure or he would’ve taken home the win. Great shooting Mark.
I look forward to seeing everyone again next season. Until then, let’s shoot some big whitetails. Have a good season everyone and stay safe. Keith Mcdowell
