Lookin for alil insight to shooting h4895.. iv used the search function and read every post that had H4895 in it.. obvously its a slower powder and a longer barrel length the better.. but is anybody shooting it out of a 26in barrel? Ill be shooting it out of a 26in #17 Kreiger barreled bolt build and would like to stick with 300gr Aeromax.. guess im wondering if i got enough barrel lenght to get a full burn if i settle somewhere in the 100-105g range loads?.. pms are welcome if nobody wants to suggest loads to try

26 will work with 4895 and a 300 but 4895 is more efficient either the heavier bullets and 28” tubes
Another powder that works well with 300s is Benchmark 4198 works well too, not quite as much speed
4895- 26” tube @ 100 grains will net 3025+ 105 should net close to 3200 Benchmark @ 90? 2900 or so 4198 @ 70-74= 2750-2875
All are estimates

I'm shooting H4895 out of a #18 26" barrel plus muzzle break. Shooting 100 grains with 300 Aeromax. Recoil is minimal, burns very clean and shoots just over .5 moa...and I'm not a good shooter. I tried a few other powder combinations, but after the first group w/4896, all testing stopped!

I wish u luck on finding H 4895 right now. U might want to pick up a couple lottery tickets at the same time if u find it.
Benchmark on the other hand is still available. U can’t get quite the speed with it that u can with H 4895 but it is an excellent powder imo.

I kept checking Powder Valley twice a day for about 2 weeks before I scored a 8lb jug of H4895. I took me 4-6 weeks to get lucky on H4198.
