I’ll start by saying I am not a turkey hunter. I have killed some but never have put much effort into hunting them. I just don’t get excited over them. Well that all changed yesterday watching the kiddo get her first turkey was exciting. H&R Pardner 20ga youth shotgun. IM Caralson extended choke Fiocci Golden Pheasant #6 Like I said earlier I am not a turkey hunter. That’s her goose gun with pheasant loads. Next year she will have a red dot turkey choke and turkey loads.

Just awesome. Getting kids involved and seeing their interest bloom is just fantastic. Congrats to the both of you!
I was same way with turkeys at first, now cant get enough of it! Nice weather, getting out after the long winter, hearing the early morning gobble, awesome!

Congrats. Like you, I am not a real turkey hunter, but spent hours with the kids in pursuit of them and can appreciate you for investing in her.

Just awesome. Getting kids involved and seeing their interest bloom is just fantastic. Congrats to the both of you! I was same way with turkeys at first, now cant get enough of it! Nice weather, getting out after the long winter, hearing the early morning gobble, awesome! Had a tough time getting her up at 4:30 to get to the spot. Got everything in blind and decoys set. I was setting the windows up when he gobbled the first time 20 yards away on the other side of the tree line. He continued to strut to the machinery gap at 5 yards. Strutting for the last 3-5 minutes. I had the hen decoys about 10 yards in front of him. The Tom decoy was on the other side of the blind because the Jake’s have been scared of the Tom decoy. Once the Tom got past the blind so he could see the Tom decoy he dropped his wings to the ground and BRRRR charged the decoy. He went by the blind at 10 feet. He went straight to the decoy hopped up on it and started beating the piss out of the decoy. The Tom took a moment to savor his victory and stood straight up and stretched his head up BANG it was over. I am not sure I would have waited for that perfect shot. She did and I was proud of it. After she brought the bird back to the blind she mentioned that if she had taken any longer morning she might not have had the opportunity on that Tom. I said she was correct. We celebrated and took some pictures still standing outside the blind figured it was time to pick decoys up and what do you know there was a Jake at 30 yards heading to the hen decoys. When Sam turned to look he saw her and took off. Another bigger Tom strolled by the trail camera at at almost noon. She would have not been there for that one because she needed to be home for on line school at noon.

Very cool man! The smile says it all! Glad to see you had a great hunt. I'd say the goose gun did the trick. LOL
