Hello guys thanks so much with help and knowledge with everything I have posted so far. I’m standing on the highdive now but have to know the water depth I would like any and all good information about how to calculate safe loads for smokeless ml again I am very appreciative of all of you for making me feel part of the “ family “

There is some pressure trace information available but currently, no one is actively doing traces so basically you have to rely on information from other shooters. I put a lot of .45 information on almost every week. But again, what works in my barrel/action, may not be the same for you. I am shooting a Brux 29"x 1.250" for the first 5" and then a straight taper to .9" with a 1 - 20 twist rate along with Hank's index able tactical brake. This is attached to a Rem. 700 CF short action along with Hank's Direct Ignition. Direct Ignition will produce more pressure/velocity from a given load then with Hank's HIS system. Roughly 50 fps more velocity......depending on the powder. Not lot of data on the .40's

My Advice For your first SML? Go .45, lots of good load info out there and they shoot really well. You WILL however own another, none of us idiots can only be satisfied with just one, next go around get a .40 after you have some experience.
There IS a learning curve to this SML stuff, no matter how much one knows about Center Fires or Smokers this is a different ball game, every single guy here will tell you that. It helps greatly if you have lots of experience in the other realms and with loading and ballistic knowledge but still there is a learning curve.
Not a lot of data out there for the .40s at this time, those of us that shoot them are reluctant to openly share load data on the forum because data gets easily confused between the .40 & .45 and the last thing we want is for someone to get hurt, shoot some of the faster powders we use in the .45s in the .40 and it turns into a pipe bomb in a hurry.
not trying to discourage anyone to jump on the .40 band wagon But just trying to give sound advise? I'm sure most of the other guys will agree when they think on it a bit?

Many of the older loads you’ll see are for 209 ignitions which create less pressure and velocity than if the same load were shot in a HIS system which produces less than a DI system. So a powder load for a 10ML2/PacNor 209 shot in a breakopen with a HIS system or DI(if available - ?) will produce a higher pressure.
Concerning 40 cal loads, I have a 209 ignited 10ML2/40 cal so I’m really in a situation with very little load data. My 45 /HIS is much more of a cookbook situation. Nothing I’m likely to shoot in it will get anywhere near it’s limit.
