Thinkin about building an SML bench rifle. I like the Manners line, Keystone, Boyds, Richards microfit and so on. I would like this rifle to be around the 20 pound mark complete with scope. So I guess the question is, If you were going to build a bench rifle what kinda stock would you use? Thanks in advance. Dave

That weight rifle I would lean towards a laminated stock. I was thinking wood but check out Nick’s post below.

Check out Master Class Stocks. Alex Sitman is the best there is... He will sell semi inletted or do the complete rifle. He has a composite laminate that is scary strong. Any color you want. He did the stock on my bench rifle. 3" forearm, built in rail, adj cheek piece, 2" butt stock. Tracks amazing in bags.

Don't know how close to KY you are but if you could make a shoot you could see several alternatives and even get to sit behind some and see what they feel like?

The spring challenge is on my 2020 bucket list and the Master class stocks look promising. I think what I was wondering is there any benefits to a fiberglass stock vs laminate? Would a chassis rifle set up be a good way to go? The stock Hank used on Cyclops is a definite front runner but Master class builds one of similar design. there's dozens of ways to go just lookin for some popular options. Thanks again. Dave

It’s all in what you like Yes fiberglass or carbon fiber has its advantages but laminated wood works well too, any of the better stocks get pricey regardless of build material
Chassis stocks work as well, I have a MPA I’m going to use on my new 1760 gun, I’m impressed by the build quality but have yet to use it.
If you’re make it to the spring shoot you will see several different ones
