Hey guys,,, Every year around Thanksgiving time and up till the end of January here at the rail road yard in Cuncinnati we have crows come in by the thousands if not tens of thousands. They roost on the train rails and poop all over the place. The leave every morning and return in the evening. After dark you can sneak up on them and catch one with your hands.. Oneshotike caught on a few years ago and snuck it into the conductors shanty where he turned it loose,, you should have heard that crow.. He was not happy.,,, caa caa caa said the mad bird.. People got up and ran out of the building.. You should have been there to see it.. Was pretty funny.,, but anyway here is a few pictures of the crows coming in for their roost in the yard... You should see how many of them they are... 1000 rounds and you wouldn't even put a dent in them...

looks like the railroad needs to hire some guys with air rifles to take care of the problem...

Suppose to be one of, if not the smartest bird on earth. When taken as a fledgling and tongue is split it is also a "prolific" talker.
Yeah I know...too much discovery channel lol. I kill 'em on site here at home.

It's like that in every rail yard,in jeff's pictures all of the sow belly cars are loaded with some sort of grain, corn, wheat, oats, etc, etc, also the black short tank cars are loaded with corn syrup, mollasses, sweeteners.. the crows are just waiting for the switcher or hump to hit cars hard enough to spill some grain out..
I've seen out on main line, cars spill grain, and we would come along and the sky would just be black with crows and pigoens over the spillage..
also the death rate is because of the pestisides on corn, etc, etc. along with old age, west nile desease, etc,
Great pictures Jeff ! Brings back alot of memories for me, was only in cincinnati yard just once years back, brought one train from frontier yard (Buffalo ny) to cincy back in the p.c. days.. anyways,, thanks Jeff,,

Crows would roost at a grave yard very near a place i used to work. They would be so thick as they flew over our parking lots it looked like bird poop rain was falling. NOT an exaggeration. It was like nothing ive ever seen. Trips to the carwash were becoming a nightly ritual.

I Believe it, and seen it,, I field dressed a deer the other day, I heard them and seen them in tree behind me, I no more was enroute home and they swooped down and devowerd that pile in minutes..
