Let the (not so fun) begin. Just got the keys today to my new to me house. Looks like I will be tied up for a couple weeks getting things in order and moving a bit at a time. Glad this move is only 16mi. from my current location. I will be about 1.5mi. out of town, Woodsfield,Oh. Pray for me to stay sane during this transition.

Hope the carpral tunnel is up to it! I will have help with real heavy stuff. I have already packed my storage building , tools etc., except for riding and push mower. I figure I will mow here 1 more time which is more than I got at the new place. I will have to mow it tomorrow, I got a JD rider with the other property. Maybe I'll lose about 15# which I need to during this move.

Moving only 16 miles is a breeze. My last move was 2250 miles one way and it took 6 trips. First trip I rented a 26’ Penske truck and pulled a 26’ box trailer. Truck was so slow that U Hauls truck was passing me. Went across that scale and the truck and trailer grossed a little over 47,000 pounds. Just a little over weight! I feel your pain because I have another move coming up next year and I’m starting to get flash back from it......

Well first day at the new place mowing for about 5hrs, changed out some door lock-sets. Talked with new neighbor and he offered me hunting access on his mini farm 26 acres with a pond and a power line right of way within 100yds. of the pond. Most of this property is grown over and as is everything around my area steep hills. This was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

Well after about 2 1/2 months in the new to me home we have painted the entire inside of the house basement and all including basement floor. Just finished putting new metal roof on today. I am so glad that project is over as my knees are feeling it bad. Going Thurs. for orthoscopic on the right knee. I will be glad to get some relief before deer gun season. The carpal cubital surgeries are slowly getting better when I don't over do it like putting a new roof on. End of whining for now.

How is the deer hunting prospects looking on neighbors land?

I walked down into the property which has not been brush-hogged or hay mowed since last year, and unless I stay way up on the hill right behind my house and looking down into the property, it would be very hard to see a deer. I may leave it til the snow beats down the 6ft. tall weeds in Jan. ML season and hunt the regular gun season on another property. Still it is great to have a place to go right in my back yard.

You will love it. I walk out my backdoor and walk about 250 yds to my shooting house. When I shoot a deer walk up to the barn get the Gator to bring the deer up to the truck. It doesn’t get any better.

I had the same situation when I lived in NJ. My tree stand was actually only about 200 feet from my kitchen window. But..............there was nothing like getting together with a couple of buds and going to a property elsewhere to hunt. Other than for a meat deer, it was not fun Kind of like shooting ducks in a pond. Killin' rather then huntin'

I always go for meat first as my friends who gather in Ky. are growing fond of jerky. I have been told by a friend who lives 5mi. down the hollow that there are always some big bucks hang on the neighbors property so I am going to hold out to the last on using the only buck we are allowed tag. I haven't shot a big racked deer for a while but always get meat.
